After reading this guide you will be able to rank the early quests by meso payout, pick monsters to farm with a clear idea of what the data does and does not say, and avoid the common early meso drains. One warning first: the data behind this guide has no NPC sell prices, no meso drop amounts and no drop rates. I will not invent them, so you will not find a mesos per hour figure below.
Assumptions and what the data can tell us
Everything here assumes a character between levels 1 and 30, playing solo, with no stated potion budget. MapleStory Classic World is Nexon's recreation of pre-Big Bang MapleStory inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Founder's Access opens October 6, 2026, and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026. Nexon's FAQ states that progress made during Founder's Access carries directly into Grand Launch, with no wipe between the two. The FAQ does not single out mesos, so treat that as a statement about progress in general.
Per mapleclassic.wiki, Classic World launches with 66 monsters (six of them bosses), 221 quests, six crafting professions, party quests, a Citizenship system, guilds and the Free Market. The wiki data gives us three useful things for early mesos:
- Quest meso rewards: fixed amounts, listed by quest.
- Monster stats: level, HP and EXP per kill, plus the maps where each monster appears and how many stand on each map.
- Which content is held back: so you do not save mesos for something you cannot reach.
It does not give us meso drops per kill, item sell prices, respawn timers or Free Market prices. When a section below says not listed, that is the reason.
Quests that pay the most mesos up to level 30
Quests are the only place in our data where a meso amount is written down, so they are the safest way to plan early income. The table shows the highest meso rewards among quests up to level 30, per mapleclassic.wiki.
| Quest | Level | Mesos | EXP | Giver |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maya's First Collection | 30 | 877 | 3150 | Maya |
| Maya's Second Collection | 30 | 877 | 3150 | Maya |
| Arwen and the Glass Shoe | 29 | 848 | 3037 | Arwen the Fairy |
| Collecting Huckle's Magic Ingredients | 29 | 848 | 3037 | Huckle |
| Regained Vitality | 27 | 789 | 2812 | Chief Stan |
| Chief Stan's Hammer | 27 | 789 | 2812 | Mrs. Ming Ming |
| Sabitrama's Anti-Aging Medicine | 25 | 731 | 2587 | Sabitrama |
| Sabitrama and the Diet Medicine | 25 | 731 | 2587 | Sabitrama |
| Camila's Gem | 24 | 702 | 2531 | Camila |
| Stranger's Identity | 23 | 672 | 2418 | Jane Doe |
| Stranger's Request | 23 | 672 | 2418 | Jane Doe |
| Chris's Request | 22 | 643 | 2306 | Nella |
| Dr. Faymus's Request | 22 | 643 | 2306 | Nella |
| Cutthroat Manny's Request | 22 | 643 | 2306 | Nella |
| Making Sparkling Rock | 21 | 614 | 2193 | Sophia |
The table shows a pattern: the payout steps up with quest level, and quests that share a level share the same reward. Maya's First Collection and Maya's Second Collection both sit at level 30 and pay 877 mesos each. Chris's Request, Dr. Faymus's Request and Cutthroat Manny's Request all come from Nella at level 22 and pay 643 mesos each. Sabitrama's Anti-Aging Medicine and Sabitrama and the Diet Medicine both pay 731 mesos at level 25. I am deliberately not adding these into totals: the wiki lists each reward per quest, and I would rather you add up the quests you actually take.
Because several givers hand out more than one quest at the same level, a single NPC can be a better stop than a lone quest with a slightly higher payout. A visit to Nella at level 22 puts three quests at 643 mesos each in reach, while Making Sparkling Rock at level 21 pays 614 mesos. This table is a payout ranking only. It does not list the item hand-ins or monster counts each quest needs, so the real cost of a quest (time, potions, drops you have to find) is not in our data. Titles such as Collecting Huckle's Magic Ingredients and Maya's First Collection suggest item gathering, but read the quest text in game before you commit.
The EXP column matters too. At level 30, Maya's quests give 3150 EXP each alongside the 877 mesos. For a character in that band, the quest EXP is large next to the per kill figures in the monster table below, so these quests are worth doing for levels as well as mesos.
Monsters you will kill on the way, with the numbers we have
Monster stats tell you how much EXP each kill gives and how hard the kill is. They do not tell you how many mesos fall. The table below covers a spread of levels. EXP/HP is mapleclassic.wiki's EXP per kill divided by HP, from our own derived ranking. The last column is the highest single-map count the wiki lists, not a respawn rate.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP per kill | EXP/HP | Weak to | Biggest listed map (count) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Snail | 4 | 68 | 8 | 0.118 | Not listed | The Field West of Amherst (24) |
| Slime | 6 | 115 | 12 | 0.104 | Lightning | The Tree That Grew II (30) |
| Orange Mushroom | 8 | 142 | 15 | 0.106 | Not listed | Mushroom Garden (15) |
| Ribbon Pig | 10 | 172 | 19 | 0.11 | Not listed | L Forest I (21) |
| Octopus | 12 | 191 | 23 | 0.12 | Lightning | Damp Tree-Forest (19) |
| Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 | 26 | 0.112 | None | West Rocky Mountain III (32) |
| Bubbling | 15 | 259 | 28 | 0.108 | Lightning | Line 1 (Area 1) (64) |
| Stirge | 20 | 296 | 37 | 0.125 | Not listed | Dangerous Steam (38) |
| Jr. Necki | 21 | 272 | 39 | 0.143 | Not listed | Dangerous Croko I (27) |
| Zombie Mushroom | 24 | 436 | 45 | 0.103 | Holy | Ant Tunnel III (61) |
Read the table as a map of where kills come cheaply, not as a meso list. Jr. Necki ranks first on EXP per HP in the level 1 to 30 band at 0.143, and Stirge is second at 0.125. Both are level 20 or higher, so they are not a fit for a fresh character. At low levels, Red Snail has the lowest HP in the table at 68 and gives 8 EXP per kill, while Octopus at level 12 gives 23 EXP per kill for 191 HP.
Map counts matter for any drop-based income. Line 1 (Area 1) holds 64 Bubbling, the highest single-map count in the table. Ant Tunnel III holds 61 Zombie Mushroom. More monsters on one map means more kills per minute for a character who can clear them, but the data does not say how fast they respawn or what they drop. Weak-to entries help only for classes that use those elements. Slime, Octopus and Bubbling are listed as weak to Lightning, and Zombie Mushroom as weak to Holy.
What to sell and what to keep: a working method
Since sell prices are not listed, the honest advice is a method rather than a price list. Follow these steps in order.
- Keep anything a quest asks for. Quest rewards are the only fixed meso figures we have, and a quest that pays between 614 and 877 mesos in the table above is worth more than any single drop I can verify. Read each quest's requirements before you sell a stack of loot.
- Check the NPC sell price in the shop window. The shop shows the price before you confirm. Sell what you cannot use and no quest needs. Our data has no per-item prices, so this check is the real source.
- Keep gear you can equip. A piece of equipment that fits your class and level can save a purchase later. Selling it to an NPC for a price you did not look up is the easy mistake.
- Compare before using the Free Market. The Free Market is part of launch per mapleclassic.wiki, but no prices are listed. Look at several listings before you list or buy anything, and trade only for in-game mesos.
- Run your own per hour test. Note your mesos before a timed session on one map, note them after, subtract what you spent on potions, and divide by the hours played. That gives you a per hour figure for your class and level, which is the only one that means anything here.
The test in the last step is how you pick between spots. Log the map, your level, whether you were solo, and the potions you used. Two sessions on two maps give you a comparison that our monster table cannot. Per kill, the table tells you EXP; only your own session tells you mesos.
What not to waste mesos on
Several mistakes come from planning around content that is not there.
- Do not save for third job. Per mapleclassic.wiki, third job advancement is not available at launch. Launch covers first and second job only, across the four branches (Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief) plus Beginner.
- Do not plan around Ossyria. Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back and will be reworked and introduced gradually after launch. Nothing from after the Big Bang update is part of Classic World.
- Do not plan around Forgotten Hollow. Nexon's Founder's Access release notes say the path there has not been discovered and that it will be added at a later date. Its maps, quests and the Rotten Mushmom boss cannot be reached until Nexon opens it.
- Do not treat Zakum as a boss goal. Zakum is the name of the top Founder's Package tier. The six launch bosses are Mano, King Slime, Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog.
- Do not spend before you know the cost. The meso cost of a job advancement, a potion stack or a shop item is not in our data. Check the in-game price first and keep a reserve for your next advancement rather than spending down to zero.
With only first and second job available, your early mesos go to potions, gear for your level, and a reserve for advancement. That makes lump-sum quest payouts more useful than long-term hoarding, because you know exactly what they pay.
What we still do not know
To be plain about the limits: no meso drop amounts are recorded, no drop rates are published in our data, and no NPC sell prices are listed. Quest meso rewards and monster stats are the only hard numbers here, both per mapleclassic.wiki. Once drop and price tables appear, a per kill and per hour comparison becomes possible, and this guide will be worth revisiting. Until then, rank the quests in the table, farm the monsters that suit your level and class, and do your own timed test before you commit to a spot.
