MapleStory Scroll and Upgrade Calculator (No Cubes)

If you searched for a cubing calculator: Classic World has no cubes, no potential and no Star Force. Equipment improves through scrolls with four tiers (Lesser 100 percent, Intermediate 60, Greater 10, Chaos 10 with a chance to destroy the item), and every piece has a fixed number of upgrade slots.

Pick a tier, the slots you will scroll and what a scroll costs you, and the calculator gives the probability of each outcome, the expected stat gain, the odds your item survives a Chaos run and the mesos you pay per point gained.

Frequently asked

Is there cubing in MapleStory Classic World?

No. Cubes and the potential system arrived after Big Bang and are not in Classic World. Scrolling is the only equipment upgrade system at launch, which is what this calculator models.

Which scroll tier gives the best value?

Intermediate: 60 percent success for +2 is an expected 1.2 points per scroll, ahead of Lesser (1.0), Chaos (0.4) and Greater (0.3), per the wiki's Scrolling page. Lesser is the choice when you cannot afford a failed slot.

How likely is a Chaos scroll to destroy my equipment?

Each Chaos scroll succeeds one time in ten and half of the failures destroy the item, so a single Chaos scroll has a 45 percent chance of destroying it. Seven in a row leave about a 1.5 percent chance the item survives.

How many upgrade slots does equipment have?

Most equipment has seven slots (798 items in the data), some have five (310) and a few have ten (95). The count is fixed when the item is created and a failed scroll still uses a slot.
