After reading this you will be able to look up any named skill that changed between the second Closed Online Test (COT2) and the launch build of MapleStory Classic World, see the old and new value side by side, and decide whether your first or second job build needs adjusting. Classic World runs inside the existing Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Founder's Access opens October 6, 2026, and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026.
Assumptions. The COT2 to launch comparisons come from NiaMeowDB's change list, which compares the same field in the COT2 and launch data at each skill's maximum level. Current in-game values come from mapleclassic.wiki. No party size, potion budget or character level is modeled, because neither source gives per hour or per kill output for these skills. Nothing below is a tested result; it is a reading of two data sets.
How many skills changed, and where
Per NiaMeowDB, 50 named, player-facing skills have a verified change record between COT2 and launch. It also reports 0 additional changed records that are unnamed internal attack nodes, so those are not counted as separate skills. The table splits the 50 by branch and job.
| Branch | Job | Skills changed |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | First job | 2 |
| Warrior | Fighter | 6 |
| Warrior | Page | 7 |
| Warrior | Spearman | 6 |
| Magician | First job | 4 |
| Magician | F/P Wizard | 2 |
| Magician | I/L Wizard | 2 |
| Magician | Cleric | 3 |
| Bowman | First job | 3 |
| Bowman | Hunter | 4 |
| Bowman | Crossbowman | 4 |
| Thief | First job | 3 |
| Thief | Assassin | 2 |
| Thief | Bandit | 2 |
The Warrior branch has the most second job changes, with Page at 7, Fighter at 6 and Spearman at 6. Magician and Thief first job skills are all text changes. The Beginner has no change records in the list, so nothing there moved between the test and launch.
One caution before the numbers. Most of the 50 records are only an in-game text change from COT2 to launch. The data does not say whether a text change is a cosmetic rewrite or a description of a different mechanic. I flag those skills below, but I will not claim they play differently.
Every numeric change in one table
This is the full set of changes that moved a number, per NiaMeowDB. Values are at each skill's maximum level. The sources do not state units for cooldown, speed, duration or range, so I repeat the figures without units.
| Skill | Job | Field | COT2 | Launch | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slash Blast | Warrior | MP cost | 12 | 14 | +2 |
| Slash Blast | Warrior | Targets | 4 | 6 | +2 |
| Sword Mastery | Fighter, Page | Effect value | 90 | 20 | -70 |
| Final Attack (Sword, Axe, Blunt Weapon, Spear, Polearm) | Fighter, Page, Spearman | Chance | 50% | 25% | -25% |
| Rush | Fighter, Page, Spearman | MP cost | 20 | 15 | -5 |
| Rush | Fighter, Page, Spearman | Targets | 4 | 6 | +2 |
| Rush | Fighter, Page, Spearman | Cooldown | 1 | 2 | +1 |
| Cold Beam | I/L Wizard | Speed | 50 | 65 | +15 |
| Invincible | Cleric | Effect value | 30 | 20 | -10 |
| Holy Arrow | Cleric | Targets | 3 | 1 | -2 |
| Holy Arrow | Cleric | Magic attack | 60 | 160 | +100 |
| Power Knockback | Bowman | Range | 150 | 90 | -60 |
| Bow Mastery | Hunter | Effect value | 20 | 10 | -10 |
| Final Attack: Bow, Final Attack: Crossbow | Hunter, Crossbowman | Chance | 50% | 25% | -25% |
| Iron Arrow: Crossbow | Crossbowman | Targets | 4 | 6 | +2 |
| Steal | Bandit | Duration | 30 | 60 | +30 |
Two patterns stand out. First, every Final Attack skill on the list went from a 50% chance to a 25% chance, so the same trade applies to all the weapon lines. Second, the three Warrior second jobs share one Rush change: cheaper, wider, but on a longer cooldown. Everything else is a single-skill adjustment.
Warrior line: Fighter, Page and Spearman
At the first job, the Warrior has two changed skills. Power Strike has a text change only. Slash Blast has a text change plus two numbers: MP cost from 12 to 14 and targets from 4 to 6, per NiaMeowDB.
The sources differ here. The mapleclassic.wiki Warrior table lists Slash Blast at 1 target and an MP cost shown as 4 → 12, with 130 damage and 1 hit. NiaMeowDB reports 4 targets before and 6 after, and an MP cost of 12 before and 14 after. I cannot reconcile those from the data on hand. The wiki is the authority for in-game numbers on this site, so treat 1 target as the current wiki entry, but check the skill description in game before you commit points to it. The wiki lists Power Strike at 260 damage, 1 hit and 1 target, with MP cost shown as 4 → 12. The fact sheet does not label what the MP arrow spans, so I read it as the low and high end across the skill's levels. That is an assumption, not a stated fact.
At level 30, Fighter, Page and Spearman share the same set of changes:
- Final Attack: chance fell from 50% to 25% on each weapon line (Sword and Axe for Fighter, Sword and Blunt Weapon for Page, Spear and Polearm for Spearman).
- Rush: MP cost from 20 to 15, targets from 4 to 6, cooldown from 1 to 2.
- Sword Mastery: effect value from 90 to 20 for both Fighter and Page. Spearman's Spear Mastery and Page's Blunt Weapon Mastery changed text only.
- Boosters: text changes only on every weapon line.
Rush is the interesting one. Spending 15 MP instead of 20 saves 5 MP per cast, and reaching 6 targets instead of 4 adds 2 targets per cast. Against that, the cooldown rose from 1 to 2. The data does not give the unit, so I cannot convert that into casts per hour. If you train in groups at level 30 as a Page or Fighter, the target and MP changes favor Rush; if you rely on spamming it, the cooldown is the number to test.
Magician line: first job, Wizards and Cleric
The Magician first job has four changed skills, all text only: Magic Guard, Magic Armor, Energy Bolt and Magic Claw. The wiki's current values show Energy Bolt at 1 hit and 1 target with MP shown as 6 → 14, Magic Claw at 2 hits and 1 target with MP shown as 10 → 20, and Magic Guard at 8 → 12. NiaMeowDB records no numeric change for any of these four, so the wiki values should match what you saw in COT2 if you tested then.
At the second job, the Wizard lines are light. F/P Wizard has text changes on Slow and Poison Breath. I/L Wizard has a text change on Slow plus one number: Cold Beam speed from 50 to 65, a gain of 15. The sources do not say what speed measures for a bolt, so I will not guess its effect on kill time.
The Cleric has the largest swing in the branch:
- Holy Arrow targets went from 3 to 1, a loss of 2 targets.
- Holy Arrow magic attack went from 60 to 160, a gain of 100.
- Invincible effect value went from 30 to 20, a loss of 10.
- Bless changed text only.
Holy Arrow trades breadth for strength: it now hits one target at 160 magic attack instead of up to 3 at 60. Whether that suits you depends on how your party pulls, and the data has no per kill figures to settle it. Solo, a single-target spell at 160 is the more natural fit; in a pack-pulling party the old spread had its own appeal.
Bowman line: first job, Hunter and Crossbowman
The Bowman first job has three changes. Arrow Blow and Double Shot are text only. Power Knockback range fell from 150 to 90, a cut of 60. The wiki lists Arrow Blow at 240 damage, 1 hit and 1 target, with MP shown as 6 → 14, and Double Shot at 120 damage, 1 hit and 2 targets. A shorter Power Knockback range means the skill reaches less far, so expect to stand closer when you use it.
The two second jobs diverge:
- Hunter (4 changed): Bow Mastery effect value from 20 to 10; Final Attack: Bow chance from 50% to 25%; Bow Booster and Arrow Bomb: Bow changed text only.
- Crossbowman (4 changed): Final Attack: Crossbow chance from 50% to 25%; Iron Arrow: Crossbow targets from 4 to 6; Crossbow Mastery and Crossbow Booster changed text only.
Read together, the Hunter list contains two reductions and no numeric increase, while the Crossbowman list contains one reduction and one increase. Going by NiaMeowDB's list alone, the Crossbowman's Iron Arrow is the only Bowman second job skill that gained reach. That is a statement about the change list, not a ranking of the two jobs.
Thief line: first job, Assassin and Bandit
The Thief first job has three text-only changes: Dark Sight, Double Stab and Lucky Seven. Current wiki values are Double Stab at 160 damage over 2 hits and 1 target, and Lucky Seven at 120 damage, 1 hit and 1 target. Disorder is 100 damage, 1 hit and 1 target, with MP shown as 5 → 10. Dark Sight is shown as 50 → 30, the only entry in these tables where the arrow runs downward, which suggests its MP cost falls as the skill levels up, though the sheet does not say so.
Assassin has two text changes (Claw Booster and Drain). Bandit has Dagger Booster as a text change and Steal's duration from 30 to 60, a gain of 30. Both Thief second jobs therefore carry no reduction in the change list, which sets them apart from the Warrior and Bowman lines.
Current first job values from the wiki
Use this table for what the skills are now, per mapleclassic.wiki. Blank cells mean the wiki lists no value. MP costs are left out of the table because the wiki shows each as a range whose meaning the sheet does not label; the ones quoted in the sections above are the ones I am willing to repeat.
| Branch | Skill | Max level | Damage % | Hits | Targets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Power Strike | 20 | 260 | 1 | 1 |
| Warrior | Slash Blast | 20 | 130 | 1 | 1 |
| Magician | Energy Bolt | 20 | 1 | 1 | |
| Magician | Magic Claw | 20 | 2 | 1 | |
| Bowman | Arrow Blow | 20 | 240 | 1 | 1 |
| Bowman | Double Shot | 20 | 120 | 1 | 2 |
| Thief | Disorder | 20 | 100 | 1 | 1 |
| Thief | Double Stab | 20 | 160 | 2 | 1 |
| Thief | Lucky Seven | 20 | 120 | 1 | 1 |
| Beginner | Three Snails | 3 | |||
| Beginner | Nimble Feet | 3 | |||
| Beginner | Recovery | 3 |
At the wiki's listed values, Power Strike at 260 damage over 1 hit is the highest single-hit figure in the table, and Double Stab at 160 over 2 hits is the Thief's heaviest attack. The wiki does not list a damage figure for the two Magician attacks, so I will not compare them.
What this means for your build
- Fighter, Page, Spearman: with Final Attack at a 25% chance instead of 50%, treat it as a smaller bonus than it was in COT2. Test it at your own level before you spend points chasing it.
- Rush users: if you pull groups, the 6 targets and 15 MP cost help. If you chain casts, the cooldown of 2 instead of 1 is the cost to measure.
- Fighter and Page: Sword Mastery's effect value fell from 90 to 20, so recheck any plan that counted on the old figure.
- Cleric: Holy Arrow is now a single-target spell at 160 magic attack. Plan around one target at a time rather than a spread.
- Hunter and Bowman: Bow Mastery fell from 20 to 10 and Power Knockback range from 150 to 90. Position closer when using Power Knockback.
- Crossbowman: Iron Arrow's 6 targets are the one clear gain on the second job list; the Final Attack chance still fell from 50% to 25%.
- Bandit: Steal's duration of 60 instead of 30 is a gain of 30 with no listed reduction elsewhere on the job.
- Thief, Magician and Beginner first jobs: the changes are text only, so use the wiki values above rather than re-planning.
What the data does not tell us
- No source here gives damage per hour, EXP per hour or MP per kill for any changed skill, so I cannot say which change helps your training speed.
- Cooldown, speed, duration and range have no stated units in the fact sheet.
- The change list does not explain a text change. It may be wording or a mechanic.
- The NiaMeowDB and wiki figures for Slash Blast disagree, and I have not been able to resolve it.
- Third job skills are not part of launch, and no change data exists for them. Classic World covers first and second job only, with second jobs at level 30.
