After reading this you will be able to decide whether a low-DEX Warrior, and later a low-DEX Fighter, is worth building in MapleStory Classic World, which runs inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. The plan comes from a community guide on NiaMeowDB written by Levi. We check it against mapleclassic.wiki and mark every place where the data runs out. Founder's Access began October 6, 2026 and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026, so treat this as a planning sheet and confirm the details in the live client.
Assumptions before any result
Everything here assumes a Warrior from level 10 to level 30, a second job advancement to Fighter at level 30 in Perion, solo play, and a sword as the main weapon. Our fact sheet has no potion prices, no mesos per hour and no drop rates, so any claim about meso income is unmeasured here. Levi's guide was edited on August 28, 2026, which is before Founder's Access, so it reflects pre-launch data.
Per NiaMeowDB, Levi calls the approach a Dexless (LowDex) Warrior: keep DEX near the floor, put nearly everything into STR, and let gear bonuses cover the DEX requirement of the next item. Levi states it requires funding or an AP reset later; with funds you buy pre-scrolled gear and hold DEX at 4. Levi also says the long-range payoff depends on a fourth-job buff working as it did in the past. Fourth job is not available at launch, so we give that payoff no weight for now.
What the build trades
The Warrior's primary stat is STR (per mapleclassic.wiki), and the Fighter's weapons are Sword and Axe. A low-DEX plan puts almost all your points into the one stat that matters most. As far as the data shows, what you give up is not damage. It is freedom.
- Gear freedom: every item in Levi's list carries a REQDEX. At low DEX you can only wear a piece if the DEX bonus of what you already wear covers it.
- Upfront cost: the low-DEX end state relies on funded purchases or scrolls. That is mesos spent before you see any benefit.
- Margin for error: Levi tells you to keep spare gear in case of an accidental unequip, because losing a DEX bonus can lock you out of the rest of the set.
- Respec dependency: the DEX 4 end state assumes an AP reset at some point. Our fact sheet does not describe how an AP reset works at launch, so do not plan around one.
What you get in return is meant to be meso efficiency. That is the part we cannot confirm with numbers. The next section checks the one piece that can be checked.
The meso efficiency argument, checked
Levi's efficiency idea rests on Power Strike. Per mapleclassic.wiki, Power Strike has a max level of 20, hits one target once, deals 260 percent damage at the top level, and its MP cost climbs from 4 to 12. Per NiaMeowDB, the early levels keep the cost at 4 MP while damage creeps up. The table lays out the figures we have.
| Power Strike level | MP cost | Damage % |
|---|
| 1 | 4 | 160 |
| 2 | 4 | 165 |
| 3 | 4 | 170 |
| 20 | 12 | 260 |
The point of the table: from level 1 to level 3 the cost stays at 4 MP per cast while damage rises from 160 percent to 170 percent. At level 20 the cost is 12 MP against 4 MP at level 1, which is three times the MP, for 260 percent against 160 percent, which is less than double the damage. So a low-level Power Strike is cheaper per cast relative to the damage it deals. A Warrior who keeps the skill cheap spends less MP per kill, all else equal. That saving is checkable and real.
What the table does not tell us is how many mesos that saves per hour. We have no potion prices and no kills per hour. We also cannot say how many hits a monster takes, because the sheet lists monster HP but not your damage per hit. The efficiency claim is plausible on MP; it is unproven on mesos.
One source difference is worth flagging. mapleclassic.wiki lists Slash Blast (4 to 12 MP, 130 percent damage) with 1 target, while NiaMeowDB's skill text describes it as hitting up to 4 enemies. The sources differ, so check it in the client before building around it. Later, Fighter adds Sword Booster and Axe Booster, whose MP cost runs from 30 down to 10 as the skill levels, and Rage at 10 to 25 MP (per mapleclassic.wiki). Cheaper skills help any budget, not only a low-DEX one. Our Fighter Skill Build and Training in Classic World guide covers the full allocation.
Stat targets by level band
These are Levi's targets as reported by NiaMeowDB. They are one player's plan, not a wiki rule. The source bands overlap at level 21, and we keep them as written.
| Level band | STR target | DEX target | Condition |
|---|
| Maple Island setup | 12 | 5 | Main menu stats Levi sets at creation |
| 10 to 16 | 87 | 5 | No gear condition listed |
| 17 to 21 | 107 | 10 | DEX 10 by level 20 if you can afford the gear; otherwise DEX 15 |
| 21 to 30 | 141 | 21 | DEX 15 is an option with level 6 smithing and spare mesos |
| 30 to 70 | Not listed | 4 | Reached by AP reset or funded purchases |
DEX rises through the early bands and then drops to 4 later. Levi's logic is that gear DEX takes over the requirement job once you can afford it. The drop from 15 or 21 to 4 is why the plan needs either mesos or a reset. Levi also notes that DEX 4 with only 100 percent scrolls works realistically only with a Green Icarus Cape; without it, you need DEX 6.
The DEX gates on weapons and armor
Per NiaMeowDB, this is where the requirement bites. These are Levi's weapon steps, not an exhaustive wiki list.
| Weapon | Level | REQSTR | REQDEX | WATK |
|---|
| Sabre | 15 | 30 | 10 | 32 |
| Viking Sword | 20 | 40 | 15 | 37 |
| Gladius | 30 | 65 | 30 | 47 |
| Lionheart (two-handed) | 35 | 75 | 35 | 55 |
| Zard (two-handed) | 40 | 85 | 40 | 60 |
| Neocora | 60 | 120 | 55 | 77 |
REQDEX rises with level at every step. A Warrior sitting at DEX 4 meets none of these from base stats alone, so each step depends on armor bonuses. Levi notes the Neocora is only 8 DEX away for a character in a clean Blue Crusader Chainmail with extra DEX scrolls. That shows how the ladder is meant to work: the armor does the stat job so the points can stay in STR.
The armor pieces follow the same pattern, per NiaMeowDB:
| Armor piece | Level | REQDEX | DEX bonus |
|---|
| Jousting Helmet | 30 | 20 | 3 |
| Emerald Battle Grieves | 30 | 20 | 3 |
| Bronze Missel | 30 | 20 | 3 |
| Blue Engrit (female) | 30 | 20 | 6 |
| Blue Crusader Chainmail (male) | 35 | 25 | 6 |
Compare the last two rows. The female overall arrives at level 30 against level 35 for the male one, and it asks for REQDEX 20 against REQDEX 25. A female character gets her first overall sooner and needs less DEX to wear it. The Red Cross Shield at level 30 gives 18 percent guard, which Levi suggests if you have the mesos. Page shares Sword Mastery with Fighter, so the sword steps apply to both. Spearman uses Spear and Polearm, which these tables do not cover. Our Weapon Reach in Classic World guide covers how far each attack hits, which is a separate question from what you can equip.
Accuracy limits from the data
The question players ask most is whether low DEX means missing more. Our fact sheet has no accuracy formula and no miss chance, so we cannot give you a number. What it does contain:
- Skill accuracy: Precise Strikes (Warrior, max level 15) adds Accuracy +5 and Critical Rate +1 percent at level 1, rising to Accuracy +20 and Critical Rate +5 percent at max level, per NiaMeowDB.
- Gear accuracy: Jousting Helmet ACC +3, Bronze Missel ACC +1, Green Icarus Cape ACC +3 and Silver Crusader Helm ACC +6, per NiaMeowDB. Levi also lists 100 percent accuracy scrolls for hats and shields at ACC +1 each.
- Monster side: per NiaMeowDB, Bubbling lists ACC 81 and AVD 9 alongside HP 259 and EXP 28. That is one monster; we have no avoid values for the rest of the level 10 to 40 range.
The honest reading is that Levi's case is built on meeting requirements, not on an accuracy test. The accuracy he mentions comes from gear and Precise Strikes. Until someone publishes a hit-rate test against the monsters you farm, treat any miss claim, for or against, as unverified. Our Classic World Damage Formula: Stats, ATK and Mastery guide covers how stats feed damage.
Where a low-DEX Warrior trains
Levi names Perion and Bubbling in B1 (Subway Depot) for levels 17 to 21. The table below is our derived EXP per HP ranking for levels 10 to 40, per mapleclassic.wiki monster data, so you can see what each kill is worth per point of HP. Bubbling sits at rank 6 with 28 EXP for 259 HP.
| Rank | Monster | Level | HP | EXP per kill | EXP/HP | Largest map count |
|---|
| 1 | Jr. Necki | 21 | 272 | 39 | 0.143 | Dangerous Croko I (27) |
| 2 | Stirge | 20 | 296 | 37 | 0.125 | Dangerous Steam (38); Transfer Area (38) |
| 3 | Octopus | 12 | 191 | 23 | 0.12 | Damp Tree-Forest (19) |
| 4 | Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 | 26 | 0.112 | West Rocky Mountain III (32) |
| 5 | Ribbon Pig | 10 | 172 | 19 | 0.11 | L Forest I (21) |
| 6 | Bubbling | 15 | 259 | 28 | 0.108 | Line 1 (Area 1) (64) |
| 7 | Orange Mushroom | 8 | 142 | 15 | 0.106 | Mushroom Garden (15) |
| 9 | Blue Mushroom | 19 | 342 | 35 | 0.102 | The Blue Mushroom Forest (16) |
The map counts are the number of that monster on the map. They say nothing about respawn timing, and we have no recorded drop rates, so this table ranks EXP, not mesos. If your reason for going low-DEX is meso efficiency, the table cannot confirm it. Bubbling is weak to Lightning and Octopus is weak to Lightning too, but a Warrior has no Lightning skill in the lists above, so that column does not help this build. For wider ranked lists, see Training Spots for Levels 20 to 30, Ranked by EXP per HP and Levels 30 to 40 Training Spots, Ranked by EXP per HP.
Who should try it, and a safe way to test
At level 30 as a Fighter with a spare character slot and a meso cushion, Levi's plan is a reasonable experiment. It is a poor fit for a first character with no savings, or for anyone who dislikes checking requirements before every purchase. Our Classic World Warrior Guide: Levels 10 to 30 Training covers the standard route; this plan is a variant, not a replacement.
Nexon allows up to 3 characters per account, and deleting one starts a waiting period, so a test character costs a slot and is not instantly reversible. A low-risk way to try it:
- Create a Warrior on a free slot and start from Levi's Maple Island stats of STR 12 and DEX 5.
- Reach level 10 and advance in Perion, then aim for STR 87 and DEX 5 by level 16.
- At levels 17 to 21, move to STR 107 with DEX 10, or DEX 15 if you cannot afford the gear.
- Before every equipment purchase, compare its REQDEX with your DEX plus the bonuses of what you already wear.
- At level 30 take Fighter and record your meso balance per hour of play. That number is the one thing this guide cannot supply, and it is the only fair test of the efficiency claim.
Skip the plan if you would be spending mesos you need for potions or crafting. The funded path is for players who already have a surplus.
A note on scope: this applies to Warriors on first and second job only. Third job is not available at launch, so the later payoff in Levi's long-range pitch cannot be tested yet.

Frequently asked
- Is a dexless Warrior viable in MapleStory Classic World?
- Levi's NiaMeowDB guide says it works if you are funded or can reset AP later, holding DEX at 4 with scrolled gear. Our fact sheet has no accuracy formula or mesos per hour, so viability is plausible but not proven by the data.
- What DEX should a Warrior have at level 30?
- Per NiaMeowDB, Levi's targets are STR 141 and DEX 21 for levels 21 to 30, with DEX 15 as an option if you have level 6 smithing and spare mesos. The later DEX 4 build applies from level 30 on.
- Does low DEX make a Warrior miss more?
- The fact sheet gives no miss chance or accuracy formula, so we cannot say. It lists accuracy sources such as Precise Strikes (Accuracy +5 at level 1, +20 at level 15) and gear with ACC bonuses.
- Why does a low-DEX Warrior use Power Strike at a low level?
- Per NiaMeowDB, Power Strike costs 4 MP at levels 1 to 3 for 160 to 170 percent damage, while level 20 costs 12 MP for 260 percent. The cheaper casts are the source of Levi's efficiency argument.
- Can a low-DEX Fighter use 4th job skills in Classic World?
- No. Third job and fourth job are not available at launch, and only first and second job advancement exist. Levi's long-range payoff depends on a fourth-job buff, so it cannot be tested yet.
