After reading this guide you will know what Rotten Mushmom is, what its listed stats say, which elements to plan around, which items are on its drop table, and why you cannot fight it yet in MapleStory Classic World. You will also have a short checklist to run the day Nexon opens its home area, plus a list of bosses you can fight now instead.
Can you fight Rotten Mushmom right now?
No. Rotten Mushmom lives in Forgotten Hollow, and Nexon's Founder's Access release notes say that area is closed. Nexon states the path leading there has not been discovered yet and that it plans to add it at a later date. Its maps, its quests and the boss itself cannot be reached until Nexon opens it. Classic World runs inside the existing Global MapleStory (GMS) client, and nothing in the client lets you skip that gate.
The same release notes list the bosses you can challenge during Founder's Access: Mano, Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom and Jr. Balrog, plus King Slime inside the Kerning City Party Quest. Rotten Mushmom is not on that list. Founder's Access opened October 6, 2026 and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026. Nexon's FAQ says progress made in Founder's Access carries into Grand Launch with no wipe. Nothing we have says Forgotten Hollow opens on either date, so treat any date you see for it as unconfirmed.
This guide is therefore a preparation page. Everything below is what the data lists today, with the gaps marked.
Rotten Mushmom stats at a glance
Assumptions for this table: these are the listed values for the boss as a monster entry, not results from a recorded fight. No party size, class or potion budget sits behind them. Per mapleclassic.wiki, the source this site uses for in-game numbers, the entry reads as follows.
| Stat | Listed value |
|---|
| Level | 60 |
| HP | 86400 |
| MP | 200 |
| EXP per kill | 844 |
| Listed respawn | 60 minutes |
| Type | BOSS, undead |
| Weak to | Fire, Holy |
| Resists | Poison |
| Primary location | Someone Else's Grave |
The table says three useful things. First, the boss is level 60 with 86400 HP, which makes it a long fight compared with an ordinary field monster. Second, it pays 844 EXP per kill, a single listed value, not a range. Third, it is undead with a weakness pair and a single resistance, which gives you an element plan before you ever reach it.
One caution on the EXP figure: the entry does not say whether 844 is a base value or what a level gap or a party split does to it. We quote it as listed and do not adjust it.
Location and respawn
The listed primary location is Someone Else's Grave. That is the only place the data names. The monster record also says no spawn maps are recorded for Rotten Mushmom yet, so we cannot tell you whether it appears in more than one map, whether a map has several spawn points, or how crowded a map gets. Nexon's FAQ does say monsters, drops and quests are identical on every channel and only the players differ, so channel choice will not change the boss. It will change how many people compete for it.
The listed respawn is 60 minutes. Taking 844 EXP per kill and a 60 minute respawn together, a character that killed it every single time it appeared would earn at most 844 EXP per hour from this boss alone, which is one kill per hour. That is a ceiling built from two listed numbers, not an observed rate. It ignores travel, failed attempts and other players taking the kill. With a boss this slow to return, it works as a periodic bonus per hour of play, not as a grinding spot.
Whether the 60 minute figure holds in the live game is open. When Forgotten Hollow opens, time two spawns yourself before building a routine around the number.
Weaknesses and what to bring
The boss is weak to Fire and Holy and resists Poison. In plain terms:
- Fire and Holy attacks are the ones the data flags as effective. If your class has a skill with either element, that skill is the first candidate for the fight.
- Poison-based attacks are a poor fit. Any skill whose damage comes from a poison effect is listed as resisted, so do not count on it for 86400 HP.
- Neutral attacks still work. The entry lists no immunity, only the weakness pair and the one resistance.
The fact sheet does not map elements to specific second-job skills, so we are not naming a skill as the element source. Check the class guides on this site and confirm the skill text in the client. Classic World launches with four branches, Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief, plus Beginner, with first and second job only. Third job is not available at launch, so your whole toolkit for this boss comes from first and second job skills.
The undead type is listed, but the entry does not spell out every interaction that comes with it. We will not guess at healing or recovery effects. Read the skill descriptions in the client before you spend potions testing them.
Drops
Here is the drop table on record. Categories are listed. The minimum, maximum and rate columns are empty in the data, so there are no quantities or percentages to report.
| Item | Category | Min | Max | Rate % |
|---|
| Rotten Mushmom Cap | etc | not listed | not listed | not listed |
| Intermediate | use | not listed | not listed | not listed |
| Equipment Crafting Stimulator | etc | not listed | not listed | not listed |
| Scroll Crafting Stimulator | etc | not listed | not listed | not listed |
| White Potion | use | not listed | not listed | not listed |
| Blue Potion | use | not listed | not listed | not listed |
Three of the entries are etc items and three are use items. White Potion and Blue Potion are the entries that could offset what you spend in the fight. Intermediate is also in the use category. The two crafting stimulators connect to crafting, which Nexon's release notes say opens from level 10 with six crafting NPCs: Smithing, Weaponcrafting, Tailoring, Woodcrafting, Leatherworking and Arcforge. The Rotten Mushmom Cap is the boss-specific etc item.
What the table does not tell us is how often any of these drop. With no drop rates, we cannot give you mesos per hour or expected items per kill. Anyone quoting a percentage for these drops right now is not working from the data this site tracks. We will fill in the columns once rates are recorded.
Who should fight it, and at what level
The data gives one level anchor: the boss is level 60. It does not give a recommended character level, a party size or a class. A number for when you can safely solo it is not in our sources, and stating one would be a guess.
What we can do is set conditions so you can judge it yourself:
- Check your damage against 86400 HP. Take your per-hit damage from your own character sheet and your hits per minute, and see how long the bar takes. If a kill takes longer than your potions can sustain, bring a party.
- Check your element. A character with a Fire or Holy skill should plan around it. A character that relies on Poison should plan on a party that carries the damage.
- Check your potion budget. Decide in advance how many potions you will spend per attempt, and leave if you hit that number. With no recorded fights, we have no consumption figure to offer.
- Check your channel. If a map is crowded, Nexon's FAQ says you can change channel and the same map loads with a different crowd. Party members must be on the same channel to play together.
None of this gives a verdict for a specific class at a specific level. We would rather say that than write a recommendation we cannot support. Once players record real attempts, we will state a level band and party size outright.
How long to budget
The only time figure in the data is the 60 minute listed respawn. We have no recorded kill time, no travel time to Someone Else's Grave and no figure for how long Forgotten Hollow takes to cross. The honest budget statement is this: if you miss a spawn, plan on waiting one respawn window of 60 minutes, and treat the fight length as unknown until measured.
Also remember the route problem. Nexon says the path to Forgotten Hollow has not been discovered, so even the first step of the trip cannot be budgeted today.
What to fight instead while Forgotten Hollow is closed
If you want a boss fight now, Nexon lists Mano, Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom and Jr. Balrog for Founder's Access, plus King Slime in the Kerning City Party Quest, which opens from level 21. Shade is not yet documented on mapleclassic.wiki, so expect fewer numbers for it. Zombie Mushmom is the closest relative to this boss by name, and this site has a separate guide for it. Zakum is only the name of the top Founder's Package tier, not a boss you can fight at launch.
What we do not know yet
- Which maps the boss spawns in: no spawn maps are recorded.
- Drop minimums, maximums and rates: all blank.
- A tested kill time, potion cost or recommended level.
- When Forgotten Hollow opens: Nexon says only that it will come at a later date.
When any of those change, this page will be updated with the new numbers and the source they came from.
