How to download MapleStory Classic World

Step 1: choose your platform

Step 2a: Nexon Launcher

1. Download and install Nexon Launcher from Nexon's website.
2. Sign in with your Nexon account (see step 3 if you do not have one).
3. Find MapleStory in your library and select the MapleStory Classic World toggle.
4. Download the standalone Classic World client. Nexon says the Classic World option appears from Founder's Access launch day, October 6.

Step 2b: Steam

1. Open the MapleStory page on Steam and add it to your library, or find MapleStory in your Steam Library.
2. Click Install and choose a drive with room for the full game.
3. Let the base download finish completely and let Steam apply any pending updates. A fully updated install keeps the Classic World patch small on launch day.
4. Link your Nexon account to Steam (step 3) before launch day.

Steam also sells the Zakum Founder's Package, the only tier on Steam; see Founder's Packages. Sales ended on October 14, and you do not need a package to play from Grand Launch.

Step 3: your Nexon account

• New to Nexon? Register on the Nexon website and verify your email address. Both platforms need a verified account.
• Playing on Steam? Link your Nexon account to your Steam profile. Nexon recommends the web: sign in at nexon.com, open Account Settings and link Steam there, without waiting for the download. Or launch MapleStory through Steam and sign in with your Nexon account when asked.
• Already play MapleStory? Your Nexon account works. Character names are not shared between MapleStory and Classic World, so pick yours on day one. Only your NX balance carries between the two games.

Mac and controllers

On macOS, Nexon points to the same two options: Nexon Launcher or the MapleStory listing on Steam (Mac support is in beta). Controllers (Xbox, DualShock, DualSense) work once you turn on Enable Controller Support in Game Options, which is off by default.
