Nexon completed unscheduled maintenance on MapleStory Classic World on Friday, August 7, 2026. The company's update is timestamped 4:58 PM PDT. Nexon says players should restart the Nexon Launcher to receive the latest update.
Timing and scope
Nexon scheduled the work to start at 3:30 PM PDT (6:30 PM EDT). It anticipated about two hours, ending around 5:30 PM PDT (8:30 PM EDT). The completion notice came at 4:58 PM PDT, ahead of that estimate.
Nexon says all Classic World game servers were unavailable during the window. The notice does not mention any other Nexon game.
The Hired Merchant fix
The main item in the notice is a Hired Merchant problem. Nexon says equipment items could lose some of their stats after a Hired Merchant shop was closed. The company says this is now resolved. Hired Merchants have been re-enabled and can be used again.
Nexon also says affected item stats will be restored after the maintenance. That restoration has limits. Nexon states that stats cannot be restored in two cases:
- The item was enhanced with a scroll.
- The item was traded to another player.
If your item fits either case, the notice offers no restoration. Nexon has not said whether any other remedy will follow. Nexon apologized to the players affected and thanked players for testing Classic World.
Other fixes listed
Nexon's notice lists seven further resolved issues:
- Safety Charms: they were being consumed when a character died in a town, or in situations where EXP would not be lost. Nexon says this is fixed.
- Cursor: the cursor would sometimes move toward the top left of the screen.
- Cash Shop UI: the interface could be misaligned when a player entered the Cash Shop.
- Ranged knockback: monsters hit by ranged attacks could sometimes be knocked back toward the character instead of away from them.
- Growing Leaf quest: the '[Event] Growing Leaf' quest could not be accepted again after forfeiting it, until the player exited and logged back in.
- SP Reset Scroll: the caster's buffs and toggle skills stayed active after the scroll was used.
- Crafting UI: animations could be canceled by repeatedly opening and closing the Crafting UI.
What it changes for a player this week
First, restart the Nexon Launcher. Nexon says this is needed to receive the update.
Second, check any equipment that passed through a Hired Merchant shop. Nexon says affected stats will be restored after the maintenance. The notice does not say how long restoration takes, so check your items rather than assume. Items that were scrolled or traded after the loss fall outside the restoration.
Third, the Safety Charm fix matters if you died in a town or in a situation where EXP would not be lost. The notice says charms were consumed in those cases. It does not say whether charms already lost will be returned. That has not been announced.
The ranged knockback fix is the one most likely to change moment-to-moment play. Nexon says monsters could be pushed toward the character after a ranged hit. The notice does not name which classes or skills were affected, so we will not guess.
Confirmed and not confirmed
Confirmed by Nexon: the maintenance ran on August 7, 2026, it finished at 4:58 PM PDT, all Classic World game servers were down, and the eight issues above are resolved.
Not stated in the notice: how many items were affected, how many Hired Merchant shops were involved, and whether compensation is planned. Nexon has not announced any of these.
The notice thanks players for testing Classic World. That fits the current stage. Founder's Access opens October 6, 2026, and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026, according to Nexon's earlier announcements. This notice itself says nothing about either date.
We will report any follow-up from Nexon on item restoration as it appears.
