Classic World Server Status: Where to Check on Launch

Nexon's server status page did not list Classic World at 18:15 UTC on October 6, 2026. Here is where to check and how to read login trouble.

Live updates, newest first. This article is being updated as the Founder's Access outage develops. Times are UTC.

Update, 19:07 UTC: logins are going through. Try again now. Roughly an hour after opening, players are getting into Classic World in numbers: the Play button is connecting, downloads are completing and characters are being created. If you were locked out, launch the game and try once more now, then give it a minute between attempts rather than hammering the button. Still no official all-clear from Nexon on its news page, X account or Discord, so expect it to be bumpy for a while, and stay out of the Cash Shop until Nexon says the freeze there is fixed; your Founder's Package items wait in the mailbox until November 30, 2026.

Update, 19:06 UTC: some players are in, and the name race is on. A minority of players are now getting through the login and creating characters, and the popular character names are going fast, which is making the players still locked out even angrier: Founder's Access was sold as the head start, and some founders are watching names disappear while they stare at an error. If you are one of the players who got in: do not open the Cash Shop. Players who open it to claim their Founder's Package items are getting stuck there and losing their session. Create your character, lock in your name, and leave the package claim for later; the mailbox items do not expire until November 30, 2026.

Update, 18:57 UTC: the error messages players are seeing. Alongside the greyed-out launcher, players are posting four different messages, all from the same outage: a region message reading "Gameplay is not currently supported for either your current location or the country associated with your account", a "game repair" error from the launcher, the connection error 500, and error 30405. The region message is the one causing the most alarm, since it looks like a country block, but it is appearing for players in supported regions who were able to pre-download hours earlier; with Nexon's platform services down, the launcher cannot verify the account's region and falls back to that message. Do not change VPN or region settings to get around it, and do not run the launcher's repair option in a loop; both can make the account harder to log in once service returns.

Update, 18:55 UTC: stop retrying. Community warnings are spreading that players who keep hammering Play or re-entering their login during the outage are getting their IP address temporarily blocked by Nexon's automatic protection, which locks them out even after service returns. Treat it as real: close the launcher, do not retry the login in a loop, and come back when Nexon posts that service is restored. One attempt every so often is fine; dozens in a minute is what trips the block.

Update, 18:51 UTC: anger and refund demands. The mood in the community has turned. Threads on the Steam community hub and r/MSClassicWorld are full of players saying they paid for a Founder's Package to play on day one and are furious to be locked out, and many say they want their money back. Nexon has said nothing about refunds or compensation; its only statement is the Discord notice above. If you bought a package, keep your receipt and wait for Nexon's next update before deciding anything; the package items are claimed from the in-game mailbox and the claim deadline is November 30, 2026, so nothing is lost by waiting.

Update, 18:41 UTC: downloads stuck too. Players report that the outage now blocks the download itself, not only the login. In the Nexon Launcher the Classic World client cannot be fetched because the launcher cannot reach Nexon's platform to begin with, and on Steam the Classic World patch is also stalling, so players who waited for launch day to download are stuck before they ever see a Play button. This is the same platform-wide problem Nexon described on Discord. Do not delete and reinstall; a partial download will resume once Nexon's services are back.

Update, 18:37 UTC: what the launcher shows. Screenshots players are sharing on r/MSClassicWorld show the Nexon Launcher's "Please select your experience" screen with both cards greyed out, regular MapleStory as well as Classic World, each reading "Unable to check this game right now. Please try again later." That matches Nexon's Discord statement: the launcher cannot reach Nexon's platform services at all, so neither game can be checked or started. Some players instead get a launcher error dialog titled "Error" that reads: "An unknown error has occurred (Code: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'url'))." That is the launcher failing to receive the game's download or connection details from Nexon's platform, the same outage seen from a different screen. There is nothing to fix on your side; reinstalling or re-linking accounts will not help. Leave the launcher closed and try again after Nexon's next update.

Update, 18:31 UTC: Nexon confirms. In a notice posted to the official MapleStory Discord, Nexon says it is aware of "an issue preventing players from connecting to all Nexon Platform services", is working to restore service, apologizes for the inconvenience and will provide an update when more information is available. This is wider than Classic World: the whole Nexon platform login is affected, which is why the Play button fails before the game ever reaches a Classic World server. Nothing has been posted on Nexon's news page, maintenance page or X account yet; the Discord notice is the official word so far.

Update, 18:28 UTC: Players on the official MapleStory Discord report that Nexon staff have acknowledged the connection problems there and are looking into them. We have not been able to verify this ourselves, and there is still no notice on Nexon's news page, maintenance page or X account. If it holds, an official post or a maintenance window should follow; this page will be updated when it does.

Update, 18:25 UTC: Still down. Players continue to report that they cannot connect to the game at all, more than half an hour after the 6:00 PM UTC opening. NiaMeowDB's tracker is now at 25 "I cannot log in" reports in the last hour, 25 times its seven-day baseline. Players who do get past the connection error report a second problem: the game freezes once they open the Cash Shop, where the Founder's Package items are claimed, and they cannot get back out. Nexon has still not posted on its news page, maintenance page or X account.

Update, 18:20 UTC: MapleStory Classic World is not letting players in. Pressing Play in the Nexon Launcher or on Steam returns a connection error (players report it as error 500) instead of the login screen. This site's own attempt failed the same way, and NiaMeowDB's crowd-sourced status tracker counted 18 "I cannot log in" reports in the hour after opening, 18 times its seven-day baseline, with its automatic check finding no Nexon notice newer than the August 11 test maintenance. Nexon's news page, maintenance page and X account still show nothing about it. Treat the servers as down until Nexon posts; this page will be updated when it does.

At 18:15 UTC on October 6, 2026, Nexon's official server status page listed the modern MapleStory worlds Scania, Bera, Kronos, Hyperion and the Challengers worlds, each with a "Server Up / Server Down" indicator. It did not list any MapleStory Classic World worlds. If you are staring at that page wondering why it shows nothing for Classic World, this guide explains where the real signal comes from.

Why players are asking today

Founder's Access for MapleStory Classic World opened on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT (6:00 PM UTC), through the Nexon Launcher or Steam, with no beta key required, according to the Nexon FAQ. Readers of this site report that in the first minutes after opening, login attempts failed or hung, the client stalled past the login screen, and some saw the game close. These are community reports, not confirmed facts. Players also opened threads on the Steam community hub about the size of the Steam download and about being unable to log in. Their contents are not verified.

Nexon has not said whether the cause is a queue, a login-server fault or a download bottleneck. As of 18:15 UTC, Nexon had posted nothing about Classic World on its news page, its maintenance page or its X account @MapleStory. The newest posts on each were dated October 5.

Where to check, step by step

  1. Open Nexon's server status page. Remember that it covers the modern worlds. You should now see Scania, Bera, Kronos, Hyperion and the Challengers worlds. If you do not see a Classic World entry, that is expected for now and does not mean the game is down.
  2. Open Nexon's maintenance page. Nexon posts scheduled and unscheduled maintenance notices there. You should now see a list of dated notices. Look for the word "Classic" in the title.
  3. Check the @MapleStory account on X. Nexon uses it for short announcements. As of 18:15 UTC on October 6, its newest post was the October 5 message "Founder's Access starts tomorrow".
  4. Check Nexon's news page for release notes and known-issue posts. The Founder's Access release notes are dated "October 6, 2026 6:00 PM UTC".
  5. Open the Server Status page on this site. It compiles Nexon's maintenance notices in one place. It is not live telemetry (a real-time feed of whether servers are responding), so it only shows what Nexon has published.

What a Nexon notice looks like

Nexon's maintenance page gives you a precedent from Closed Online Test 2 in August 2026. It lists an "Unscheduled Maintenance - August 10, 2026" and a "Scheduled Maintenance - August 11, 2026" for Classic World, both marked completed. So when something is officially wrong, expect a dated post with a status, not only a colored indicator.

How to read a launch-day problem

Launch-hour congestion is common for MMO (massively multiplayer online) launches. Two broad situations look similar from your chair, so work through them in order.

  1. Check your download first. On the Nexon Launcher, Nexon says the Classic World client could not be downloaded before launch day. You open MapleStory in the launcher library, select the "MapleStory Classic World" toggle and download the standalone client. On Steam, MapleStory and Classic World are bundled as one build. The base game must be fully updated, then a further patch is needed when Founder's Access begins, which Nexon calls "a much larger download". You should now see the download finish before you try to log in.
  2. Confirm your account link. On Steam, Nexon requires a Nexon account linked to your Steam profile and recommends doing it through the website account settings.
  3. Treat a hang as load until Nexon says otherwise. If the client stalls at login but your download is complete, many players trying at once is a common cause. This is a general pattern, not a Nexon statement about today. Wait several minutes, then try again once rather than repeatedly.
  4. Treat a wide, lasting failure as a possible fault. If Nexon posts a maintenance notice or an X update, follow it. Reports alone do not confirm a fault.

What is not changing

Nexon's FAQ said details about the server launch time would come later. No separate post followed, and the FAQ and release notes give 11:00 AM PDT. Grand Launch, free to play for everyone, is Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT. Founder's Package items are claimed from the in-game mailbox by November 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC. Founder's Packages stay on sale on the Nexon website and Steam through October 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM PDT. The release notes also list a "Founder's First Step" check-in event via the Maple Administrator NPC, and timed GM events starting from Paul in Lith Harbor on October 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 19 and 20.

If you cannot log in today, you lose nothing by waiting for Nexon's next notice. This page will stay as the reference for where to look.

Frequently asked

Where does Nexon announce Classic World maintenance?
Nexon posts notices on its maintenance page and on the @MapleStory X account. The August 10 and 11, 2026 test maintenances were posted on the maintenance page and marked completed.
Is the server status page on this site live?
No. It compiles Nexon's published maintenance notices and is not live telemetry, so it cannot show whether servers are responding at this moment.
