After reading this guide you will know when MapleStory Classic World opens, who can play on which date, what carries over between the dates, and how Nexon got from the April 2025 reveal to launch. Every date below comes from Nexon's FAQ or from Nexon's own published announcements. Where Nexon has not listed a detail, this guide says so.
The short answer: the dates that matter
Nexon's FAQ states that Grand Launch is October 21, 2026. That is the day MapleStory Classic World opens to everyone. Players who own a qualifying Founder's Package get Founder's Access from October 6, 2026.
MapleStory Classic World is Nexon's recreation of pre-Big Bang MapleStory. It runs inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Both dates are confirmed by Nexon. Neither one is expected or rumored.
Here is the same information in list form:
- October 6, 2026: Founder's Access begins for players with a qualifying Founder's Package.
- October 21, 2026: Grand Launch. Classic World opens to everyone.
The FAQ does not list a time of day for either date. It also does not list server-by-server opening times. Check Nexon's current announcements close to each date before you plan around a specific hour.
What happens on October 6, 2026: Founder's Access
Nexon's FAQ says that players with a qualifying Founder's Package get Founder's Access from October 6, 2026. The word "qualifying" matters. Founder's Access is tied to a package, not to a regular GMS account alone.
Nexon's FAQ lists the Founder's Package tiers as Snail, Orange Mushroom and Zakum. All three include Founder's Access from October 6. Per the FAQ, the higher tiers add more items. The FAQ does not make the entry date depend on the tier, so the start date is the same for all of them.
Several package details come straight from the FAQ:
- The Steam version offers only the Zakum tier. The other tiers are sold through Nexon's own store.
- Nexon's FAQ covers tier upgrades after purchase. This guide does not restate prices, because they can change.
- Nexon answers in the FAQ whether package items expire. Check the current text before relying on an item for the long term.
A note on naming. Zakum is the name of a Founder's Package tier. It is not a statement about what you can fight at launch.
What happens on October 21, 2026: Grand Launch
Per Nexon's FAQ, Grand Launch is when Classic World opens to everyone. Players without a Founder's Package can join from this date. Players who started in Founder's Access keep playing the same characters.
Launch content is limited to the early game: Maple Island and the Victoria Island towns, with first and second job only. This guide covers the schedule, not the content. If you want to know what you can do on day one, read the scope pieces on this site. This page makes no claim that later areas or advancements arrive on October 21, 2026, because Nexon has not said they do.
Nexon has not published a post-launch content calendar in the material this guide draws from. Anything beyond October 21, 2026 is therefore unconfirmed.
What carries over from Founder's Access to Grand Launch
This is the question most players ask before buying. Nexon's FAQ answers it directly: progress made during Founder's Access carries directly into Grand Launch. Nexon says there is no wipe between the two.
In practice, a character you create on October 6, 2026 is the same character on October 21, 2026. That reading follows from the FAQ line, which is about progress as a whole. It does not break progress down item by item, so this guide does not either.
Several other carry-over questions concern the link between GMS and Classic World, not the launch dates. Nexon's FAQ treats each as its own topic:
- Character names. The FAQ addresses whether in-game names are shared between MapleStory and Classic World. The current answer is in the FAQ, and this guide does not restate it.
- NX, Maple Points and MVP benefits. The FAQ addresses what is shared between the games, including these.
- Bans. Nexon's memo on sanctions states that account sanctions apply across Global MapleStory and Global MapleStory Classic World.
- Challenger World transfers. The FAQ addresses transfers to Classic World directly.
- Running both games. The FAQ addresses running MapleStory and Classic World at the same time. Check the current answer.
Nexon's FAQ is the authority for all of these. It can be updated, so read it again before you buy.
The full timeline, from reveal to launch
The table below lists each dated event in order. The reveal, the closed tests and the sales milestones are history. The last two rows are confirmed dates that had not yet happened when this guide was written.
| Date | Event | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| April 1, 2025 | Announced | Nexon revealed MapleStory Classic World in its 20th anniversary developer video, led by original designer Nemi. |
| April 1, 2026 | Closed Online Test 1 | The first closed online test went live. |
| June 1, 2026 | IGN Live trailer | A special trailer aired at IGN Live 2026. |
| August 1, 2026 | Closed Online Test 2 | The second closed online test went live. |
| August 11, 2026 | Mobility skill adjustments | Nexon published a patch adjusting mobility skills. |
| August 21, 2026 | Launch dates set | Grand Launch was set for October 21, 2026 in Nexon's exploration report. |

| October 6, 2026 | Founder's Access begins | Players with a qualifying Founder's Package can start. Progress carries into Grand Launch. |
| October 21, 2026 | Grand Launch | MapleStory Classic World opens to everyone. |
Read the table in phases. The first phase is the reveal, in April 2025. The second is the testing and marketing phase, from April 1, 2026 to August 11, 2026. It includes both closed online tests, the IGN Live trailer and the mobility skill patch. The third is the commercial phase, from August 21, 2026 onward. It starts with the launch date being set and runs through package sales, the FAQ and the access dates.
The order matters. Nexon set the Grand Launch date on August 21, 2026, before the Founder's Packages went on sale on September 2, 2026. The launch date was public before anyone could buy early access. The FAQ and pre-download instructions followed on September 29, 2026, which is before Founder's Access begins on October 6, 2026.
The road from the 2025 reveal
Nexon revealed Classic World on April 1, 2025, in its 20th anniversary developer video. Per the timeline, original designer Nemi led that video. It is the only dated event in 2025 in the material this guide uses.
Every other dated event is in 2026. Closed Online Test 1 went live on April 1, 2026. A trailer aired at IGN Live 2026 on June 1, 2026. Closed Online Test 2 followed on August 1, 2026.
On August 11, 2026, Nexon published a patch adjusting mobility skills. The record lists it as an adjustment patch. It does not list individual values, so this guide does not either. The patch review elsewhere on this site covers that change.
What the record does not show is what changed between the closed tests beyond that patch. The timeline lists the tests as events. It does not give player counts, test durations or feedback summaries. Any claim about those would be a guess.
How to prepare before October 6, 2026
Follow these steps if you plan to play from the first day of Founder's Access.
- Decide whether you want Founder's Access. It requires a qualifying Founder's Package. If you wait for Grand Launch on October 21, 2026, the FAQ gives no sign that a package is required to play.
- Pick a tier and a store. The tiers are Snail, Orange Mushroom and Zakum. Steam sells only Zakum. Nexon's own store sells the others. Check current prices in the store.
- Pre-download the client. Nexon published pre-download instructions for both Nexon Launcher and Steam on September 29, 2026. Follow the instructions for your platform.
- Check your platform. Nexon's FAQ says Classic World runs on macOS through the macOS beta. The FAQ has the install steps and a known-issues note.
- Check your controls. Gamepad support is built in, per the FAQ, and the FAQ lists which controllers Nexon has tested.
- Read the account answers. Names, NX and running both games at once are all covered in the FAQ. Read the current text rather than relying on a summary.
What the data does not tell us
Several things players want to know are not in the material Nexon has published so far.
- Opening times. No time of day is listed for Founder's Access or Grand Launch.
- Server capacity. No figures are listed for server counts or population limits.
- Package prices. This guide leaves them out on purpose. Nexon's store is the only reliable source.
- Anything after October 21, 2026. Nexon has not confirmed a content schedule in the sources used here.
Nexon is the authority for dates, prices and policy. The community wiki, mapleclassic.wiki, is the authority for in-game numbers. When either source changes, treat the new text as correct and this page as out of date.
