By the end of this guide you will be able to pick a grinding map for levels 30 to 40 in MapleStory Classic World, Nexon's pre-Big Bang recreation that runs inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. You will weigh three things together: EXP paid per point of HP, how many of a monster stand on a map, and what the monster is weak to. Everything here is Victoria Island content. Founder's Access opens October 6, 2026 and Grand Launch is October 21, 2026.
Assumptions. Solo play, no party bonus, and a character in the level 30 to 40 band that has taken its second job. The fact sheet has no damage-per-hit, accuracy or potion-price figures, so I cannot rank kills per hour for a specific build, and I will not pretend to. When I say per kill, that is the EXP value from mapleclassic.wiki. When I say per hour, that is a ceiling quoted from NiaMeowDB and labelled as such.
The ranking: EXP per HP for levels 30 to 40
Per our derived ranking, 20 monsters fall in this band, and the fact sheet gives the top ten. EXP per HP is EXP per kill divided by the monster's HP, so it shows how much reward you collect for each point of HP you have to wear down. Stats below are from mapleclassic.wiki.

Read the table with three cautions. First, ranks 1 to 5 tie at 0.091 when rounded to three decimals, so their order is a listing order, not a real difference. Second, the top of the list sits below your level. The four Fairy entries are level 29, Iron Hog is level 28 and Evil Eye is level 27, while Golden Stirge is level 42, above the band. The only monsters in the table that sit inside 30 to 40 are Fire Boar (level 32), Ligator (level 31) and Jr. Wraith (level 34). Third, the sheet records no EXP penalty or bonus for fighting a monster above or below your level, so treat every EXP figure as the raw value per kill, not as what you will necessarily receive at level 34.
The four Fairy entries share identical stats: 593 HP and 54 EXP, which gives 0.091. They appear as separate rows because each is listed with its own maps.
Where each monster stands, and how many
EXP per HP only matters if there is something to hit. This table gives the maps and the count on each map from mapleclassic.wiki. The Entrance of Golem's Temple appears twice in the source with different counts, and I have kept both.

This is where the ranking changes shape. The Fairies pay well per HP, but no map holds more than 2 of any Fairy entry, so you would spend your hour walking between single spawns. Iron Hog matches the Fairies at 0.091 and is dense: 22 on Pig Park II, 20 on Pig Park and 13 on Someone Else's House. Evil Eye is the densest of the top six, with 38 on The Cave of Evil Eye III, 36 on The Cave of Evil Eye II and 31 on Ant Tunnel Park. For monsters that sit inside your band, Ligator has 41 on The Swamp of Despair I, Fire Boar has 26 on The Burnt Land V, and Jr. Wraith has 83 on Line 2 (Area 1).
Golden Stirge has the highest EXP per kill in the table at 93, against 66 for Jr. Wraith. It also has 1278 HP, and no map holds more than 4 of them (Decayed Tunnel II). Its spawn list includes Another Sanctuary and Forbidden Entrance, which NiaMeowDB files under Forgotten Hollow. Nexon says Forgotten Hollow is closed during Founder's Access, and the fact sheet does not say whether Decayed Tunnel II, Decayed Tunnel III, Forgotten Entrance I or Primeval Forest II are open, so I will not send you there.
Which map fits your situation
These are conditional picks, not a single answer. All assume solo play.
Level 30 to 32 on the Perion side, solo. Fire Boar is a level 32 monster paying 60 EXP for 842 HP, which is 0.071 EXP per HP. The Burnt Land V holds 26, the most of any Fire Boar map, with The Burnt Land III next at 24. Per NiaMeowDB, it is the main option that avoids the Kerning City subway, and its quests also pay EXP.
Level 32 to 34 near Kerning City, solo. Jr. Wraith pays 66 EXP for 982 HP, which is 0.067 EXP per HP, the lowest ratio in the table. It makes up for that with density: 83 on Line 2 (Area 1) and 69 on Line 1 (Area 2). NiaMeowDB calls it a good level match for 32 to 34.
Level 31 on a swamp map. Ligator is a level 31 monster paying 58 EXP for 853 HP (0.068 EXP per HP). The Swamp of Despair I holds 41 and The Swamp of Despair II holds 36.
Level 30 and still catching up on lower monsters. Evil Eye (level 27, 50 EXP, 606 HP) is dense on The Cave of Evil Eye III (38). Iron Hog is dense on Pig Park II (22). Both sit below your level, and the sheet cannot tell you what that costs in EXP.
Cross-check against NiaMeowDB's per-hour ceilings
NiaMeowDB publishes a theoretical EXP per hour for each map. Per NiaMeowDB, the number is a cap for one player working alone, calculated with the spawn pool set at 75% and with every monster dying the instant it appears. Real sessions fall short because you walk between platforms and make potion runs, so use the figure to compare maps, not to forecast your night. NiaMeowDB's monster levels match the wiki on Evil Eye (27), Fire Boar (32) and Jr. Wraith (34), so the two sources agree on every number I compared.

The pattern follows the spawn counts. Line 2 (Area 1) sits at 2,151,429 and The Burnt Land V at 1,032,143, and the first map holds 83 Jr. Wraiths against 26 Fire Boars. That gap exists even though Jr. Wraith ranks below Fire Boar on EXP per HP (0.067 against 0.071). For this band, then, density outweighs ratio. NiaMeowDB also lists Line 1 (Area 2) as a quieter alternative to Line 2 (Area 1), which makes sense when the main map is crowded; the sheet has no player-traffic data to confirm it.
The Evil Eye rows split the other way. The Cave of Evil Eye III has more Evil Eyes (38) than Ant Tunnel Park (31), yet NiaMeowDB rates Ant Tunnel Park higher (981,785 against 680,206). Per NiaMeowDB, Ant Tunnel Park also carries other monsters, and that mix lifts its total, while the cave is the closer-to-single-monster option. Ant Tunnel Park lists no portal trip to potions, while the cave lists 3. These are NiaMeowDB's figures and mapleclassic.wiki has no per-hour equivalent, so I cannot reconcile them further.
NiaMeowDB also notes that parties raise the rate: a bonus of 10% for two members, 20% for three, and 30% for four or more. Everything in this guide is solo, so the ratios above do not include that.
Class notes by weakness
The table lists one weakness per monster, and it is the only class-relevant data we have. Use it as follows.
Magician with a fire attack: Ligator and Jr. Wraith are both weak to Fire. Jr. Wraith is also weak to Holy.
Magician with an ice attack: Fire Boar is weak to Ice.
Magician with a lightning attack: Iron Hog is weak to Lightning.
Poison attacks: all four Fairy entries are weak to Poison, but they are too sparse to build a map around.
Warrior, Bowman and Thief: the sheet lists no physical resistance, so for a physical build the EXP per HP column is your guide. Fire Boar has 842 HP and Jr. Wraith has 982 HP, so a Fire Boar takes less damage to kill. Whether that means faster kills depends on your damage, which the sheet does not give.
How to choose a map, step by step
Note your level and whether you are solo. In a party, the ratios here still hold but the per-hour figures rise.
Pick the monster inside your band first: Ligator at level 31, Fire Boar at level 32, Jr. Wraith at level 34.
Check the weakness. If your second job has fire, Ligator or Jr. Wraith are natural. If it has ice, look at Fire Boar.
Open the spawn table and choose the map with the highest count: The Swamp of Despair I (41), The Burnt Land V (26) or Line 2 (Area 1) (83).
Check the potion trip. Per NiaMeowDB, The Burnt Land V is 8 portals from a potion shop, against 5 for the two subway maps. Fold that into your potion budget; the sheet gives no potion prices.
If the map is crowded, move to the runner-up: Line 1 (Area 2) for Jr. Wraith or The Burnt Land III for Fire Boar.
What this data does not tell us
No spawn timers or respawn rates are recorded, so a count of 83 does not tell you how fast the map refills.
No drop rates or meso values are listed, so this guide ranks EXP only.
No monster defense or accuracy figures are in the sheet, so I cannot say which class kills each monster fastest.
No level-gap EXP adjustment is listed, so the level 27 to 29 monsters may pay differently than their raw EXP suggests when you are higher level.
No potion cost per hour is listed. Potion budget is a gap I cannot fill.
The wiki's monster table holds 66 monsters, and 20 of them fall in this band. Ten are shown in the sheet I was given.
Treat this as a map-selection guide, not a promise of hourly EXP. As launch data firms up, the density figures and the Forgotten Hollow status are the two things most likely to shift the picks.
