After reading this you will be able to choose a training monster at level 50 and above in MapleStory Classic World, justify the choice in EXP per kill and EXP per HP point, and see where Victoria Island runs out of room. Classic World runs inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back, so the usual climb past this point does not exist at launch.
Assumptions before any result: a character at level 50 or higher, training solo, with no potion budget modeled. The fact sheet has no class damage figures, so I do not rank by class. I list each monster's weakness and leave the matching to you. The ranking is this site's own derived order of EXP per HP point, built from mapleclassic.wiki monster data. The wiki data gives EXP per kill but no per hour figure. Every per hour number below is attributed to NiaMeowDB and comes from its model, not from measured play.
The ranking: ten monsters by EXP per HP
Our level band for this guide is 50 to 120, and 16 monsters fall inside it. The table below holds the top ten by EXP per HP point. Three of them (Rafflesia at level 47, Wraith at level 48 and Clang at level 49) sit under level 50, yet they appear in this band's data, so I kept them. The sheet does not explain why.
| Rank | Monster | Level | HP | EXP per kill | EXP per HP | Weak to |
|---|
| 1 | Malady | 55 | 2998 | 167 | 0.056 | Holy |
| 2 | Rotten Mushroom | 56 | 3520 | 183 | 0.052 | Holy |
| 3 | Wraith | 48 | 2350 | 122 | 0.052 | Holy |
| 4 | Rafflesia | 47 | 2285 | 117 | 0.051 | Fire |
| 5 | Duskmander | 50 | 2682 | 133 | 0.05 | Ice |
| 6 | Croco | 52 | 3136 | 146 | 0.047 | Fire |
| 7 | Wild Kargo | 62 | 5057 | 231 | 0.046 | Not listed |
| 8 | Clang | 49 | 2899 | 127 | 0.044 | Lightning |
| 9 | Sporewood | 59 | 4834 | 201 | 0.042 | Fire, Holy |
| 10 | Drake | 50 | 3218 | 133 | 0.041 | None |
How to read the ranking
EXP per HP shows how much EXP each point of damage converts into. It does not show how fast you kill, because that depends on your damage per hit and how long you spend walking between monsters. Use it to compare monsters of different sizes, not as a forecast of an hour of play.
Malady leads at 0.056 EXP per HP: 167 EXP per kill against 2998 HP, and it is weak to Holy. Rotten Mushroom follows at 183 EXP per kill and 3520 HP. Here the catch is access. Nexon's Founder's Access release notes say Forgotten Hollow is closed and that the path leading there has not been discovered yet. The wiki's monster table includes Forgotten Hollow entries that cannot be reached for now. The sheet does not say which maps below belong to Forgotten Hollow, so confirm a map in the game before you plan around it. A row in this table is not automatically a spot you can stand on today.
Wraith is the practical anchor. At 122 EXP per kill and 2350 HP it scores 0.052, level with Rotten Mushroom at this precision (the sheet rounds to three decimals), and it is weak to Holy. NiaMeowDB's map model leans heavily on Wraith maps, covered below.
Some pairings worth comparing:
- Wild Kargo against Wraith: 231 EXP per kill against 122, but 5057 HP against 2350. You earn nearly double per kill and must deal more than double the damage, which is why Wild Kargo sits at 0.046 and Wraith at 0.052.
- Duskmander against Drake: both give 133 EXP per kill at level 50, but Duskmander has 2682 HP and Drake has 3218. Duskmander is weak to Ice; Drake has no listed weakness. Per HP, Duskmander wins on this data.
- Croco against Clang: Croco gives 146 EXP at 3136 HP; Clang gives 127 EXP at 2899 HP. Croco leads on both EXP per kill and EXP per HP. Clang's edge is its Lightning weakness, useful only if you have a Lightning attack.
- Sporewood: 201 EXP per kill and 4834 HP, weak to both Fire and Holy. It has the widest weakness list in the table but the second-lowest EXP per HP.
Where the monsters live
The sheet gives each monster's maps and the count standing on each map. A higher count means more targets in reach, which often matters more per hour than a small EXP per HP gap between neighbors. The sheet records no respawn timers, so I cannot turn these counts into kills per hour.
| Monster | Maps (count on map) |
|---|
| Malady | The Forest of Evil I (15); The Forest of Evil II (8); The Forest of Evil II (15) |
| Rotten Mushroom | Another Sanctuary (10); Dilapidated Tomb (14); Precipice of Darkness (6); Someone Else's Grave (4) |
| Wraith | Line 1 (Area 3) (48); Line 1 (Area 4) (59); Line 2 (Area 2) (57); Line 2 (Area 3) (68); B3 (Subway Depot) (9); B3 (Subway Depot) (1) |
| Rafflesia | Collision of Ice and Fire (7); Decayed Tunnel II (11); Decayed Tunnel III (7); Forbidden Entrance (13); Forgotten Entrance I (2); Primeval Forest I (8); Primeval Forest II (8); Primeval Forest III (6); The End of Fleeting Light (11); The Valley of Death (10) |
| Duskmander | Decayed Tunnel I (11); Forbidden Entrance (12); Precipice of Darkness (14); The End of Fleeting Light (7) |
| Croco | Dangerous Croko I (6); Dangerous Croko II (24) |
| Wild Kargo | Drake's Meal Table (10); The Tunnel That Lost Light II (7); Wild Kargo's Area (13) |
| Clang | Clang and Lorang (17); Hot Sand (13); Lorang and Clang (29) |
| Sporewood | Another Sanctuary (7); Dilapidated Tomb (3); Perilous Descent III (5) |
| Drake | Drake Hunting Ground (18); Drake's Meal Table (23); The Tunnel That Lost Light I (20); The Tunnel That Lost Light II (15) |
Wraith has the deepest single-map counts here: 68 on Line 2 (Area 3) and 59 on Line 1 (Area 4). Among the lower-level monsters, Lorang and Clang holds 29 Clangs and Dangerous Croko II holds 24 Crocos. Drake's Meal Table is the one map in the table where two ranked monsters share a floor: 23 Drakes and 10 Wild Kargo.
Per hour: what NiaMeowDB's map model says
Every per hour figure in this section comes from NiaMeowDB, not from our sheet. Per NiaMeowDB, its max EXP per hour is a theoretical ceiling for one player, calculated as if each spawn died the instant it appeared. Real play falls short of it, since you walk between platforms and stop to restock potions. Use it to compare maps against each other, not to predict your own hour.
| Map | Main monster (level) | Max EXP per hour (NiaMeowDB) | Portals to potions |
|---|
| Line 2 (Area 2) | Wraith (48) | 3,488,571 | 6 (Kerning City Pharmacy) |
| Line 2 (Area 3) | Wraith (48) | 2,962,857 | 7 (Kerning City Pharmacy) |
| Line 1 (Area 4) | Wraith (48) | 2,570,714 | 7 (Kerning City Pharmacy) |
| Lorang and Clang | Clang (49) | 1,816,786 | 3 (Florina Beach) |
| Dangerous Croko II | Croco (52) | 1,582,500 | 6 (Kerning City Pharmacy) |
| Sleepy Dungeon V | Dark Stone Golem (58) | 2,585,073 | 7 (Regular Sauna) |
| Sleepy Dungeon III | Dark Stone Golem (58) | 1,421,809 | 5 (Regular Sauna) |
| Dangerous Valley II | Red Drake (60) | 677,269 | 4 (Perion Department Store) |
Three points stand out. First, the Kerning City Subway Wraith maps top the table. Line 2 (Area 2) at 3,488,571 is the highest of any Victoria Island map in NiaMeowDB's data. NiaMeowDB describes it as a mix of Jr. Wraith and Wraith with a few Jr. Necki you can ignore, and suggests it once you are around level 47 to 48. Line 2 (Area 3) holds only Wraiths, so every kill is on level. Line 1 (Area 4) plays the same way with fewer spawn points; NiaMeowDB gives 59 against 68, which matches the counts on our wiki-based sheet.
Second, NiaMeowDB's model rates the Wraith subway maps above every map in its level 51 to 55 bracket, so staying on Line 2 (Area 2) past level 50 is a reasonable pick in its data. For on-level monsters in that bracket it points to Lorang and Clang, where it says Clangs carry about 70% of the EXP, and to Dangerous Croko II, where it says Crocos carry four-fifths. Hot Sand is its alternate Clang map; our sheet lists 13 Clangs there.
Third, NiaMeowDB calls Sleepy Dungeon V the strongest map past level 55, yet its 2,585,073 is still below Line 2 (Area 2) at 3,488,571. Dark Stone Golem is not on our sheet, so I cannot give its HP or EXP per kill.
How to pick a spot at level 50 and up
- Match the level first. Wraith is level 48, Croco is level 52 and Malady is level 55. The sheet gives no level-gap penalty, so I will not quantify what a mismatch costs.
- Check the weakness against your skills. Holy covers Wraith, Malady, Rotten Mushroom and Sporewood. Fire covers Croco, Rafflesia and Sporewood. Lightning covers Clang, and Ice covers Duskmander. With no matching element, EXP per HP still holds.
- Look at the count on the map. Line 2 (Area 3) lists 68 Wraiths and Line 1 (Area 3) lists 48. The two B3 (Subway Depot) entries list 9 and 1, so skip them for a long session.
- Count the potion trips. The portals column is per NiaMeowDB. Lorang and Clang is 3 portals from Florina Beach, while the subway Wraith maps are 6 or 7 from the Kerning City Pharmacy. Fewer portals means less downtime per hour.
- Change channel if the map is crowded. Nexon's FAQ says monsters, drops and quests are identical on every channel and only the crowd differs. Windia has 20 channels as of October 14, 2026. Party members must share a channel.
The ceiling: what Victoria Island does not give you
Nexon lists a maximum character level, and the distance between level 50 and that cap is where Victoria Island thins out. Per mapleclassic.wiki, Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back, to be reworked and introduced gradually after launch. Third job advancement is not available at launch, and nothing from after the Big Bang update is part of Classic World. Forgotten Hollow has no discovered path yet, per Nexon's release notes.
The data shows the thinning. The highest-level monster in our top ten is Wild Kargo at level 62, and the other six monsters in the band are not in the table I have, so I cannot say whether any is higher. Per NiaMeowDB, the island has no strong map for the 60s: Dangerous Valley II is the only one built around a level 60 monster, at 677,269 max EXP per hour against 3,488,571 for Line 2 (Area 2). Wild Kargo's 231 EXP per kill looks attractive, but its 5057 HP puts it at 0.046 per HP, and its maps are thinly populated: 10 on Drake's Meal Table, 7 on The Tunnel That Lost Light II and 13 on Wild Kargo's Area.
In practice, at level 50 as a second-job character, the efficient window per NiaMeowDB's model is the Wraith maps into the mid 50s. After that, move toward Sleepy Dungeon V, or toward the Croco and Clang maps depending on what your skills can hit. Beyond that, expect slower gains until Nexon opens more content. Quests are one lever the sheet confirms: 221 at launch per mapleclassic.wiki, though it lists no EXP per quest.
What this data does not tell us
- No EXP-needed-per-level table is on the sheet, so I cannot say how many hours each level takes.
- No drop rates and no meso income per hour are listed, so I cannot rank by profit.
- No respawn timers are listed, so per hour figures exist only through NiaMeowDB's model.
- The sheet does not label which maps are reachable during Founder's Access, apart from naming Forgotten Hollow as closed.
- Founder's Access progress carries into Grand Launch on October 21, 2026, per Nexon, but we have no evidence yet on how crowded these maps get after that date.
Treat the ranking as a starting point. Test one map for a full stretch, then compare what you actually earn per hour against the NiaMeowDB ceiling for that map.

Frequently asked
- What are the best training spots at level 50 in Classic World?
- It depends on your level and skills. Per NiaMeowDB, Line 2 (Area 2) has the highest max EXP per hour of any Victoria Island map at 3,488,571, with Wraith as the main monster. Lorang and Clang and Dangerous Croko II are its on-level picks for players who can hit Clang or Croco.
- Which monster gives the most EXP per HP above level 50?
- On our derived ranking, Malady at level 55 leads with 0.056 EXP per HP (167 EXP per kill, 2998 HP). Rotten Mushroom and Wraith follow at 0.052, but Rotten Mushroom lives in Forgotten Hollow, which is closed for now.
- Can I train in Orbis or El Nath in Classic World?
- No. Per mapleclassic.wiki, Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back and will be introduced gradually after launch. Third job advancement is also not available at launch.
- Is Forgotten Hollow open for leveling?
- No. Nexon's release notes say the path to Forgotten Hollow has not been discovered yet, so its maps, quests and Rotten Mushroom cannot be reached until Nexon opens it.
- What do I do if a training map is full?
- Change channel. Nexon's FAQ says monsters, drops and quests are the same on every channel, only the players differ. Windia has 20 channels as of October 14, 2026, and party members must be on the same channel.
- Does the guide have EXP per hour numbers for these monsters?
- Not from our sheet, which lists EXP per kill only. The per hour figures come from NiaMeowDB's map model and are ceilings for comparing maps, not measured results.
