Classic World Third Job: What Is Not in the Launch Game

Classic World launches without third job, Orbis, El Nath or later content. See what is held back, what ships instead and how to plan.

Harriet Lindqvist

By the end of this guide you will know which parts of MapleStory Classic World are held back at launch, what the game contains in their place, and how to build a realistic plan for Founder's Access on October 6, 2026 and Grand Launch on October 21, 2026. If you arrived by searching 'classic world 3rd job', the short answer is directly below, and the rest explains what it means for your first weeks.

The short answer: third job is not at launch

Per mapleclassic.wiki, third job advancement is not available at launch. The launch game stops at first and second job across four branches (Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief), plus the Beginner class. That is the whole advancement ladder you can climb on October 6 or October 21.

It helps to understand the design intent before the mechanic. Classic World is Nexon's recreation of pre-Big Bang MapleStory, running inside the existing Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Nexon chose to ship a smaller, complete slice of that world rather than the whole thing at once. The slice is built so that a first and second job character always has somewhere to go, something to hunt and something to craft. Content that needs rework is being held back and, per mapleclassic.wiki, will be introduced gradually after launch.

One personal note, because it explains why this matters for planning. In the older client I first played, I reached second job and assumed there would always be a bigger town waiting past the next boat. That is my memory, not Classic World data, and I am not claiming the launch game paces itself the same way. What is true today is simpler: at launch, second job is the ceiling for advancement, and you should plan your early weeks around that ceiling.

Everything Nexon has held back

These are the items the sources say are not part of the launch game. Nothing here is playable, reachable or testable during Founder's Access.

  • Third job advancement. Not available at launch, per mapleclassic.wiki. Any advancement past second job is likewise outside launch scope.
  • Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria. Per mapleclassic.wiki, these are held back, to be reworked and introduced gradually after launch. No date for any of them is listed.
  • Anything from after the Big Bang update. The mapleclassic.wiki Differences page states that nothing from after the Big Bang update is part of Classic World: no Pirates, no Cygnus Knights, no Aran, no Evan, and no later continents.
  • A Zakum boss fight. Zakum is the name of the top Founder's Package tier. It is not a boss at launch. The six launch bosses are Mano, King Slime, Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog.

Two cautions on wording. First, 'held back' and 'introduced gradually' describe Nexon's stated direction as recorded on mapleclassic.wiki; they are not a schedule. We do not have a listed order, month or patch for any held-back area. Second, a package tier name is only a name. Buying the Zakum tier gets you Founder's Access and package items, and Nexon's FAQ is the authority on what each tier includes. It does not unlock a boss or any later content.

What the launch game contains instead

The launch game is not thin. Per mapleclassic.wiki, it ships with two continents, six Victoria Island towns, 66 monsters including six bosses, and 221 quests. The table below pulls the headline figures together.

Read the table as a map of where your time will go. Most of those 66 monsters are ordinary field monsters to level on between Maple Island and Victoria Island, with six bosses at the top. The 221 quests are your main structured progression alongside grinding. Crafting, with its six professions, and the Free Market give you an economy to participate in, and party quests and guilds give you group content that does not depend on a later continent.

One note on the map ranges. Maple Island covers levels 1 to 10 and Victoria Island starts at level 10, so the hand-off between the two is clean. The sources we have do not list a level cap or the level at which second job unlocks, so we will not state either here.

The six launch bosses are the combat ceiling

Because third job and Ossyria are held back, the six bosses are the top end of the combat content the fact sheet lists. Here is what mapleclassic.wiki records for each.

BossLevelHPEXPPrimary locationListed respawn
Mano207420148Thicket Around the Beach III1800 s (30 minutes)
King Slime32168202481st Accompaniment (Last Stage)Not listed
Mushmom4034440376Someone Else's House1800 s (30 minutes)
Zombie Mushmom5053640568The Grave of Mushmom1800 s (30 minutes)
Rotten Mushmom6086400852Someone Else's Grave1800 s (30 minutes)
Jr. Balrog803254001612The Cursed Sanctuary10800 s

The point of the table is the shape of the ladder. Levels climb from 20 to 80, and HP rises with them, so the bosses work as milestones rather than a single wall. Jr. Balrog at 325400 HP and 1612 EXP sits far above Rotten Mushmom at 86400 HP and 852 EXP. The Cursed Sanctuary also has the longest listed respawn, 10800 seconds against 1800 seconds for Mano and the Mushmom family.

A few details worth knowing for planning:

  • Mano spawns once on Thicket Around the Beach III, a Victoria Island map listed at map level 2 to 4. The boss itself is level 20, so the map level and boss level do not match; the data does not explain the gap.
  • King Slime is listed with no weakness and resists Fire, Holy, Ice and Lightning. It spawns once on 1st Accompaniment (Last Stage), under the Hidden Street region, with no respawn time listed. The quest Proof of Companionship (level 21) involves hunting King Slime, though King Slime itself is level 32.
  • Mushmom spawns once at Someone Else's House with a listed respawn of 1800 seconds.
  • Zombie Mushmom is undead, weak to Holy and resistant to Poison. Its home, The Grave of Mushmom, is listed at map level 24 to 50.
  • Rotten Mushmom is undead, weak to Fire and Holy, and resistant to Poison, and appears on Someone Else's Grave.
  • Jr. Balrog is weak to Holy and resists Poison. Its map, The Cursed Sanctuary, is listed at map level 80.

What the data does not tell us is just as important. Drop tables name items (for example Mushmom Spore from Mushmom, or White Potion and Elixir from Jr. Balrog) but list no minimum, maximum or rate. We also have no recorded party-size requirement for any boss. Do not plan around an expected drop until rates are published.

How this shapes your early plans

Knowing the ceiling lets you plan with a clear head. Here is a practical order of operations for Founder's Access and Grand Launch.

  1. Pick a branch with second job as the goal. Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief all stop at second job at launch. Choose for how you want to play now, not for a third job you cannot reach yet.
  2. Treat Maple Island as your tutorial. It covers levels 1 to 10. Move to Victoria Island at level 10 and up, and pick a home town from Henesys, Ellinia, Perion, Kerning City, Lith Harbor or Sleepywood.
  3. Work the quest list. With 221 quests at launch, quests are a stable source of structured progress. Check the level on each quest before you accept it; Proof of Companionship, for instance, is listed at level 21.
  4. Check boss resistances before you commit a party. If your group leans on Poison, note that Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog all resist it. If you lean on Fire, King Slime resists it. Holy is listed as a weakness for Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog. This is a condition-based tip for those specific bosses, not a ranking of classes.
  5. Use the economy you have. Crafting has six professions, and the Free Market is live at launch. Several boss drop lists include crafting stimulators, which suggests crafting is meant to connect to boss content, though the sources do not state this directly.
  6. Do not stockpile for held-back content. Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria have no listed arrival date. Spending your time and mesos on what exists now is the safer plan.

Founder's Access, accounts and what carries over

Nexon's FAQ states that Grand Launch is October 21, 2026, and that players with a qualifying Founder's Package get Founder's Access from October 6, 2026. Progress made during Founder's Access carries directly into Grand Launch; there is no wipe between the two. That means your early plan is not a rehearsal. Characters you build on October 6 are the ones you keep.

The package tiers are Snail, Orange Mushroom and Zakum, and all three include Founder's Access from October 6. The higher tiers add more items. Steam sells only the Zakum tier; the other tiers are sold through Nexon's own store. We are not restating prices, since Nexon can change them. Check the FAQ for upgrades and item expiry before relying on a package item long term.

On platforms, Classic World runs inside the existing GMS client on Nexon Launcher or Steam, with a macOS beta and built-in gamepad support. Nexon has published pre-download instructions for both Nexon Launcher and Steam. For account questions such as shared names, NX and Challenger World transfers, Nexon's FAQ has the current answers. On policy, Nexon's memo on account sanctions states that they apply across Global MapleStory and Global MapleStory Classic World.

What we do not know yet

Being honest about gaps is part of setting expectations. The sources do not give us:

  • A release date, order or season for Orbis, El Nath or any other Ossyria content.
  • A date for third job advancement, or any statement of what it would involve.
  • Drop rates, minimum and maximum quantities for any boss drop.
  • A respawn time for King Slime.
  • A level cap or the exact level for second job.

Per mapleclassic.wiki, held-back content is to be reworked and introduced gradually after launch. Until Nexon or the wiki publishes specifics, the safest reading is the plain one: at launch, the game is Maple Island and Victoria Island, first and second job, and six bosses ending at Jr. Balrog. That is what is true in Classic World today.
