On 2026-09-29, Nexon published the MapleStory Classic World FAQ. It arrived alongside Founder's Access pre-download instructions for Nexon Launcher and Steam. This piece summarizes the questions the FAQ answers. It does not restate prices, which Nexon can change.
Where the FAQ sits in the timeline
The mapleclassic.wiki News timeline places the announcement on 2025-04-01, in Nexon's 20th anniversary developer video. Closed Online Test 1 followed on 2026-04-01. Closed Online Test 2 went live on 2026-08-01. Nexon set Grand Launch for October 21, 2026 in its Ossyria Exploration Report on 2026-08-21. Founder's Packages went on sale on 2026-09-02. The FAQ came 27 days after that sale began.
Dates and access
The FAQ states that Grand Launch is October 21, 2026. Players with a qualifying Founder's Package get Founder's Access from October 6, 2026. Nexon says progress made during Founder's Access carries directly into Grand Launch. There is no wipe between the two.
The FAQ also confirms pre-download. Nexon published instructions for both Nexon Launcher and Steam on September 29, 2026.
Founder's Packages
The FAQ lists three tiers: Snail, Orange Mushroom and Zakum. All three include Founder's Access from October 6. Nexon says the higher tiers add more items. Zakum is the name of a package tier here, not a boss available at launch.
- Steam: the FAQ confirms the Steam version offers only the Zakum tier. The other tiers are sold through Nexon's own store.
- Upgrades: the FAQ covers tier upgrades. The exact mechanics are set out there.
- Expiry: Nexon answers whether package items expire. Check the current text before relying on an item long term.
Platforms and controls
The FAQ says Classic World is available on macOS through a beta. Nexon provides install steps and a known-issues note. Gamepad support is built in, and the FAQ lists which controllers Nexon has tested. It also addresses running MapleStory and Classic World at the same time. The current answer is in the FAQ.
Accounts, NX and policy
This group covers what is shared between Global MapleStory (GMS) and Classic World. The FAQ addresses three shared-account questions:
- Whether character names (IGNs) are shared between the two games.
- Whether NX, Maple Points and MVP benefits are shared.
- Whether Challenger World characters can transfer to Classic World.
Nexon has not changed its position on sanctions. A September 22, 2026 memo states that account sanctions apply across GMS and Classic World. The FAQ points to that memo. A ban in one game therefore carries to the other, according to Nexon.
The questions players asked most
Nexon has not published question counts, so this piece cannot rank the questions by volume. The FAQ itself leads with release timing and pre-download, which suggests where Nexon expects demand. That is an inference, not a statement from Nexon. Community discussion in the weeks around the sale centered on the same themes: package tiers, the Steam limit to Zakum, and what is shared with regular MapleStory. These are topics, not sourced figures.
What it means now
As of today, Founder's Access begins on October 6, 2026, and Grand Launch follows on October 21, 2026. Both dates come from Nexon. The FAQ is the authority for dates, packages, platforms and accounts. Several answers are deliberately left to its live text, so players should read the current version before buying or transferring anything. Content Nexon has held back, including the 3rd job, Orbis and El Nath, is not part of what the FAQ describes as available. With weeks left, the pre-download is the one task the FAQ lets players finish early.
