As of October 13, 2026, players in MapleStory Classic World are reporting bot-like and multi-client characters in several maps. These are player observations, not confirmed facts. Nexon has not made a Classic World-specific statement about bots, as far as this site has found.

Founder's Access requires a paid Founder's Package. Grand Launch, when the game opens to everyone for free, is October 21, 2026.

What players are reporting

Two community threads between October 9 and October 13 drew most of the discussion. Both are topics here, not sources.

The first thread shared a short clip. Two characters move with exactly the same inputs at the same time. After a while they stack onto the same spot. The poster first called it hacking.

Most replies disagreed. Players say it looks more like multi-clienting: one person running two game clients with software that copies keyboard input to both. They also say it may be combined with a farming bot. The poster later said the label does not matter. Running characters this way breaks the Terms of Service and spoils maps for others.

The second thread said warriors using only basic attacks filled every channel of Henesys Hunting Ground. Players also report similar sightings at the Slime Tree in Ellinia and in the Kerning City subway.

Why basic attacks prove nothing

One counterpoint drew wide support. Many legitimate warriors basic-attack at Henesys Hunting Ground. It costs no MP and saves money on potions. Attacking style alone is not evidence.

Players say they look for other signs instead:

  • A name that is a random string of letters and numbers.
  • The starter weapon from character creation, at a level where most players have upgraded.
  • Attacks on a fixed rhythm, even with no monsters nearby.
  • Walking back to the exact same spot after every hit.

These are community rules of thumb. None is an official test. A single sign can fit a real player.

Mesos for real money

Players also report megaphone spam advertising mesos for real money near the Free Market. Such trades break Nexon's Terms of Service, and players say both sides can be banned. Do not trade with these advertisers.

Reporting results are mixed

Players say you can report a suspected bot by right-clicking the character and choosing the report option. Results vary. Some players say reported characters vanished within minutes. Others say a reported bot was still farming hours later.

One player said there may be a daily limit of around 15 reports. That is unconfirmed. Nexon has not stated a limit.

What Nexon has said

On August 5, 2026, Nexon published a post titled "Maple Memo: Addressing Recent Instances of Hacking Activity" for main MapleStory. Nexon says it confirmed that players had manipulated the game to clear boss content and that it permanently banned them. It also says it will not tolerate game manipulation or other Terms of Service violations. It says it actively monitors the live servers and that more accounts it identifies will face the same ban.

That post concerns main MapleStory, not Classic World. It does not confirm that the same enforcement applies to Classic World. Players in the threads cited it while debating whether the current client is open to old-style hacks. Some argued the server now checks most game logic. Others pointed to the Nexon post as proof that cheating still happens.

Several players also predict the problem will grow once the game is free on October 21. That is a prediction, not a confirmed trend.

What you can do this week

  • Report suspected bots with the right-click option instead of arguing in chat.
  • Change channels if a map is crowded with them.
  • Never trade with or pay megaphone advertisers.
  • Keep your account secure.

This site will update the story if Nexon issues a Classic World statement.

Frequently asked

How do I report a bot in Classic World?
Players say you right-click the suspected character and choose the report option. Results are mixed: some report bots vanishing within minutes, others say they kept farming for hours.
Does basic-attacking at Henesys Hunting Ground mean a player is a bot?
No. Players point out that many legitimate warriors do it because it costs no MP and saves on potions. Signs players watch for instead include random-string names, a starter weapon at a high level, and a fixed attack rhythm.
Has Nexon said anything about bots in Classic World?
Not as of October 13, 2026. Nexon's August 5 post on hacking covers main MapleStory, where it says it permanently banned players who manipulated the game.
