On 2026-10 the picture of what MapleStory Classic World will contain at launch came into focus, with a stated count of 66 monsters, six of them bosses. This primer lays out those six and clears up a name that causes confusion: Zakum. Assumptions first: this is a content overview, not a farming guide, so there are no per-hour or per-kill figures here. None appear in the fact sheet, and we will not invent them. Where we cite launch content, the source is Nexon and mapleclassic.wiki.
The six launch bosses
That is the complete list of bosses at launch. Three of the six are variants of the Mushmom family, which gives the roster a clear shape: one early boss in Mano, one slime, a three-part Mushmom line, and Jr. Balrog at the end of the list.
Where the bosses sit in the launch world
Classic World opens with two continents: Maple Island for levels 1 to 10, and Victoria Island for level 10 and up. Victoria Island has six towns: Henesys, Ellinia, Perion, Kerning City, Lith Harbor and Sleepywood. The six bosses are part of a 66-monster roster, alongside 221 quests, crafting with six professions, party quests, a Citizenship system, guilds and the Free Market. Players choose from four job branches (Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief) plus Beginner, with first and second job advancement available.
The fact sheet does not say where each boss spawns or what level range suits it, so we are not going to guess. Treat any level recommendation you see before launch as unverified until it is published by Nexon or mapleclassic.wiki.
Why Zakum is a package name, not a fight
Zakum is the name of the top tier of the Founder's Package. It is a label on a purchase option. There is no Zakum boss fight at launch. If you see the name and assume a fight is waiting, the fact sheet says otherwise: the six launch bosses are the list above, and Zakum is not on it.
The reason the confusion is easy to understand is that the name carries weight from the original game. But Classic World is a pre-Big Bang recreation, and the content that would support that kind of encounter is held back. Third job advancement is not available at launch. Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back as well, to be reworked and introduced gradually after launch. Nothing from after the Big Bang update is part of Classic World, so there are no Pirates, Cygnus Knights, Aran or Evan, and no later continents.
Technical notes for launch
Classic World runs inside the existing Global MapleStory (GMS) client, on Nexon Launcher or Steam, with a macOS beta and gamepad support. Founder's Access begins October 6, 2026, and the Grand Launch follows on October 21, 2026, both dates from Nexon.
What it means now
With weeks to go before the Grand Launch, the practical takeaway is simple. Six bosses are the shared goal for the server at launch: Mano, King Slime, Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog. If you are weighing a Founder's Package, do not read the Zakum tier name as a promise of a Zakum encounter, because Nexon's launch scope does not include one. Plan around the six confirmed bosses, and wait for published numbers before committing to any per-hour or per-kill expectations.
