After reading this you will be able to open a Bowman at level 10 with a skill order you can defend, place your 9 starting AP so the DEX 25 gate holds no surprises, and pick Bow or Crossbow with the second job already in mind. MapleStory Classic World is Nexon's recreation of pre-Big Bang MapleStory, running inside the Global MapleStory (GMS) client. Nexon's FAQ states that Founder's Access opens October 6, 2026, that Grand Launch is October 21, 2026, and that progress made during Founder's Access carries directly into Grand Launch with no wipe. A build you start early is a build you keep.
Assumptions and what the data does not give us
Every result below assumes a solo Bowman, from the level 10 advancement to level 30, with no party bonus. Potion budget is not modeled because the fact sheet lists no potion prices or healing values. The gaps shape what a level-by-level plan can honestly be, so here they are up front:
- The sheet lists skills and max levels, but not how many SP you earn per level or at job advancement. I can give an order and skill-level targets, not an SP count per level.
- Damage is listed as a percentage for only some skills, and absolute damage is not listed. Hits needed per kill therefore cannot be computed.
- Effects and numbers for Critical Shot, Power Knockback, The Eye of Amazon and Focus are not listed. I will say so rather than guess.
- No drop rates and no respawn timers are listed for any monster, so there is no EXP per hour or mesos per hour here, only EXP per kill.
Per mapleclassic.wiki, the Bowman branch uses DEX as its primary stat, advances at level 10 in Henesys, and splits into Hunter or Crossbowman at level 30. Third job advancement is not available at launch, so level 30 is the end of the skill road you are planning here.
The six first-job Bowman skills
This is the full first-job list per mapleclassic.wiki. Blank cells in the source are marked as not listed.
| Skill | Max level | MP cost | Damage % | Hits | Targets | Requires |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arrow Blow | 20 | 6 to 14 | 240 | 1 | 1 | None |
| Double Shot | 20 | 8 to 16 | 120 | 1 | 2 | Arrow Blow Lv 1 |
| Critical Shot | 15 | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | None |
| Power Knockback | 15 | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | None |
| The Eye of Amazon | 15 | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | None |
| Focus | 20 | 8 to 16 | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | The Eye of Amazon Lv 3 |
Two skills have real attack numbers. Arrow Blow is 240% on one target for 6 to 14 MP. Double Shot is 120% on each of 2 targets for 8 to 16 MP; with both targets in range, 120% on each adds up to 240% total, the same as Arrow Blow's single-target figure. The sheet does not say which skill level the damage figure applies to, and it gives MP cost only as a range, so I will not divide damage by MP. That would mix a cost at one level with damage at an unknown level.
The prerequisites are short. Double Shot needs Arrow Blow at Lv 1, and Focus needs The Eye of Amazon at Lv 3. Critical Shot and Power Knockback have no prerequisite listed. Because SP per level is not listed, I cannot tell you whether every skill can be maxed by level 30. Plan as if it cannot.
Skill order from level 10 to 30
Advance by speaking to Athena Pierce in Bowman Instructional School, Henesys, at level 10. Then spend SP in the order below. It is my default for a solo Bowman who is limited by MP and has no confirmed numbers for the utility skills.
- Arrow Blow to Lv 1. It is the only skill with a single-target figure (240%), and it unlocks Double Shot.
- Double Shot to Lv 1. This is a single level that opens the two-target option. Its MP cost starts at 8, against 6 for Arrow Blow.
- Arrow Blow toward its max of 20. Use it as your main attack on sparse maps and on single targets. The six launch bosses are Mano, King Slime, Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog; you are not expected to solo them at level 30, and the only point here is that a boss fight is a single-target fight.
- Double Shot toward its max of 20. Raise it once you farm crowded maps, because it hits 2 targets at 120% each.
- The Eye of Amazon to Lv 3, only if you want Focus. Focus costs 8 to 16 MP and its effect is not listed, so treat those levels as a purchase you should justify from mapleclassic.wiki before making it.
- Critical Shot and Power Knockback last. Each has a max of 15 and no listed numbers. They go after the two skills with known damage until the wiki gives you a reason to move them up.
The decision rule is simple. If a map shows many monsters close together, lean toward Double Shot. If you fight one target at a time, lean toward Arrow Blow. The tail of the list (Critical Shot, Power Knockback, The Eye of Amazon and Focus) is what stays under-filled, because the two attack skills are the only ones with numbers you can check.
AP from creation to the DEX 25 gate
Per mapleclassic.wiki, Classic World has no dice roll. Every primary stat starts at 4, and the new character places 9 AP directly. Putting all 9 into one stat takes it to 13. Four stats at 4 is 16 points of floor, and the 9 free points bring the opening total to 25.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Starting value per stat | 4 |
| AP placed at creation | 9 |
| DEX if all 9 go into DEX | 13 |
| Bowman first job gate | DEX 25 |
| AP granted per level | 5 |
| Level where manual allocation starts | 11 |
The gap between DEX 13 and the gate is 25 minus 13, which is 12 points. For comparison, the Thief gate is also DEX 25, the Warrior gate is STR 35 and the Magician gate is INT 20. Bowman and Thief therefore ask for the same stat at the same number.
Here is the catch. Per mapleclassic.wiki, AP is auto-allocated to the Beginner's primary stats until level 11, and allocation is manual from level 11. The advancement happens at level 10, before manual control. The sheet does not say how the auto-allocation divides AP, so I cannot promise it fills those 12 points for you. A one-time AP bonus at first job advancement also exists, but its amount is not listed.
- At creation, place all 9 AP into DEX. That is the only placement the sheet supports for a Bowman, and it gets you to 13, the highest single-stat value possible at the start.
- Check your DEX in the stat window as you approach level 10. If it is short of 25, you will see it before you are standing in front of the instructor.
- From level 11, put each level's 5 AP into DEX unless a verified weapon requirement says otherwise. The sheet lists DEX as the only primary stat and gives no secondary-stat or weapon-requirement numbers, so check mapleclassic.wiki before buying a Bow or Crossbow.
One warning that matters more than any optimization: AP is permanent without a rare reset item. Do not experiment with spreads, and do not bank on a respec.
Monsters to level on while you build
These ten monsters come from our derived ranking by EXP per HP point, for the level 10 to 30 band, which contains 33 monsters. The ranking is ours, not Nexon's. Figures are per kill, per mapleclassic.wiki.
| Rank | Monster | Level | HP | EXP per kill | EXP per HP | Weak to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jr. Necki | 21 | 272 | 39 | 0.143 | Not listed |
| 2 | Stirge | 20 | 296 | 37 | 0.125 | Not listed |
| 3 | Octopus | 12 | 191 | 23 | 0.12 | Lightning |
| 4 | Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 | 26 | 0.112 | None |
| 5 | Ribbon Pig | 10 | 172 | 19 | 0.11 | Not listed |
| 6 | Bubbling | 15 | 259 | 28 | 0.108 | Lightning |
| 7 | Orange Mushroom | 8 | 142 | 15 | 0.106 | Not listed |
| 8 | Zombie Mushroom | 24 | 436 | 45 | 0.103 | Holy |
| 9 | Blue Mushroom | 19 | 342 | 35 | 0.102 | Not listed |
| 10 | Horny Mushroom | 22 | 403 | 41 | 0.102 | Not listed |
Read the table for what it is. EXP per HP is not EXP per kill. Zombie Mushroom is eighth on EXP per HP at 0.103, yet it pays 45 EXP per kill, the highest EXP per kill of the ten, at 436 HP. Ribbon Pig, at level 10 as a Bowman fresh from advancement, pays 19 EXP per kill for 172 HP. Green Mushroom at level 14 pays 26 EXP per kill for 233 HP, so it is a natural next step for a Bowman who has just picked up Double Shot.
The weakness column does not help a first-job Bowman. Octopus and Bubbling are listed as weak to Lightning, and Zombie Mushroom to Holy, but none of the six Bowman skills lists an element. Do not pick these monsters on the assumption that you can exploit the weakness.
Where you stand matters for Double Shot. The sheet gives monster counts per map. Bubbling has 64 listed on Line 1 (Area 1), the densest listing in the table, and 9 on B1 (Subway Depot). Ribbon Pig has 21 on L Forest I. Green Mushroom has 30 on The Forest of Wisdom and 32 on West Rocky Mountain III. Jr. Necki has 27 on Dangerous Croko I, Stirge has 38 on Dangerous Steam, Zombie Mushroom has 61 on Ant Tunnel III, and Horny Mushroom has 41 on Ant Tunnel IV. Those are counts, not respawn rates, and no respawn timing is listed, so I cannot give you EXP per hour for any map.
How the build feeds Hunter or Crossbowman
At level 30 in Henesys you choose Hunter, which uses a Bow, or Crossbowman, which uses a Crossbow. Both have DEX as the primary stat, and the Bowman's own weapon list covers both Bow and Crossbow. The weapon you carry from level 10 to 30 is therefore the first sign of which job you are heading toward.
| Skill slot | Hunter | Crossbowman |
|---|---|---|
| Mastery | Bow Mastery, max 20 | Crossbow Mastery, max 20 |
| Booster (needs Mastery Lv 5) | Bow Booster, max 20, MP 30 to 10 | Crossbow Booster, max 20, MP 30 to 10 |
| Soul Arrow (needs Booster Lv 5) | Soul Arrow: Bow, max 20, MP 25 to 5 | Soul Arrow: Crossbow, max 20, MP 25 to 5 |
| Final Attack (needs Mastery Lv 3) | Final Attack: Bow, max 30 | Final Attack: Crossbow, max 30 |
| Attack skill | Arrow Bomb: Bow, max 30, MP 14 to 28, damage not listed | Iron Arrow: Crossbow, max 30, MP 14 to 28, 190%, 1 hit, 4 targets |
| Shared | Amazon's Judgement, max 20 | Amazon's Judgement, max 20 |
These points follow from the table, and each is limited to what is listed.
- No first-job skill is listed as a prerequisite for any second-job skill. The prerequisite chains (Mastery, then Booster, then Soul Arrow) all sit inside the second job. Your first-job SP therefore cannot lock you out of either branch.
- The two branches mirror each other. Only the weapon and the attack skill differ. Iron Arrow lists 190% on 4 targets, while Arrow Bomb: Bow has no damage listed. I will not rank the two until the wiki fills that cell.
- MP costs fall on the support skills. Booster goes from 30 to 10 and Soul Arrow from 25 to 5, while the attack skills rise from 14 to 28. MP management is a real part of the second-job plan.
The sheet does not say whether your first-job skills remain usable after you advance, so check mapleclassic.wiki before you assume Arrow Blow or Double Shot carry on. That is a reason to treat the order above as a plan for levels 10 to 30 specifically.
What the numbers do not tell us
- SP earned per level, and the SP total available by level 30.
- Absolute damage values, so hits to kill for any monster.
- The effects and numbers for Critical Shot, Power Knockback, The Eye of Amazon and Focus.
- Drop rates and respawn timers, so EXP per hour and mesos per hour.
- The amount of the first-job AP bonus, and how auto-allocation divides AP before level 11.
None of these gaps changes the core advice: put all 9 creation AP into DEX, verify DEX before level 10, take Arrow Blow and Double Shot first, and choose Bow or Crossbow with the level 30 split in mind.

Frequently asked
- What should a Bowman put AP into in Classic World?
- DEX is the Bowman's primary stat per mapleclassic.wiki, and the first job gate is DEX 25. Putting all 9 creation AP into DEX takes it to 13, and each level after that grants 5 AP.
- Is there a dice roll for starting stats in Classic World?
- No. Every stat starts at 4 and you place 9 AP directly, so the opening total is 25. The original game rolled a random spread; Classic World replaced that with direct allocation.
- Which Bowman skill should I max first?
- Take Arrow Blow to Lv 1, which unlocks Double Shot, then Double Shot to Lv 1. After that, Arrow Blow suits single targets (240% on 1 target) and Double Shot suits crowds (120% on each of 2 targets). The sheet does not list SP per level, so it cannot say how far each gets by level 30.
- When does a Bowman become a Hunter or Crossbowman?
- Second jobs are available at level 30 in Henesys. Hunter uses a Bow and Crossbowman uses a Crossbow, and both use DEX as the primary stat.
- Can a Bowman reach third job in Classic World?
- No. Per mapleclassic.wiki, third job advancement is not available at launch, so the Bowman plan ends at the level 30 second job.
