On 2026-10, with Founder's Access set for October 6, 2026 and Grand Launch for October 21, 2026, the shape of MapleStory Classic World's opening scope became clear from Nexon's published launch list. It is a short list, and short lists make meta. When there is less content, the content that exists carries more weight, and the way players spend their first weeks changes with it.
What the launch list contains
According to Nexon, launch has two continents: Maple Island for levels 1 to 10, and Victoria Island for level 10 and up. Victoria Island's towns are Henesys, Ellinia, Perion, Kerning City, Lith Harbor and Sleepywood. There are four job branches (Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief) plus Beginner, with first and second job advancement only.
The rest of the scope is as follows:
- 66 monsters, including six bosses.
- 221 quests at launch.
- Crafting with six professions, party quests, a Citizenship system, guilds and the Free Market.
- The game runs inside the existing Global MapleStory (GMS) client, on Nexon Launcher or Steam, with a macOS beta and gamepad support.
The design intent: a closed loop
The intent of a capped launch is a complete loop rather than a partial one. A player can start on Maple Island, move to Victoria Island, advance twice, join a guild, run a party quest, craft and trade. Everything in that chain is present. What is absent is the ladder above it: Nexon states that third job advancement is not available at launch, and that Orbis, El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are held back, to be reworked and introduced gradually after launch.
Nothing from after the Big Bang update is part of Classic World either: no Pirates, Cygnus Knights, Aran or Evan, and no later continents.
What that does to the early meta
With the ceiling set by second job and the Victoria Island map list, three pressures follow. These are my reading of the scope, not figures from the wiki.
- Time at the cap is long. Since there is no third job to chase, players who reach the top of the available content will have to look sideways: crafting, guild goals, Citizenship and the Free Market.
- Bosses become shared targets. Six bosses is a small roster, so every group will be competing over the same few encounters.
- Party quests matter earlier. They are one of the few structured group activities in the list.
The six bosses, and one name to ignore
Nexon's launch bosses are Mano, King Slime, Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Rotten Mushmom and Jr. Balrog. That is the whole list. Zakum is the name of the top Founder's Package tier, not a boss you can fight at launch. If you see a guide or a group planning a Zakum run, it does not describe the launch game.
What veterans should recalibrate
Here is my one memory. In the 2007-era client, I remember second job feeling like a waypoint, because third job was always the goal behind it. I cannot say how the pacing of that era compares to Classic World, and I will not claim the two match, because neither Nexon nor mapleclassic.wiki has confirmed it. What I can say is that in Classic World the waypoint is the destination, at least for the launch window.
So the recalibration is practical:
- Plan for a long stay in the second-job band rather than a quick pass through it.
- Check mapleclassic.wiki for in-game numbers such as drop rates and boss stats before committing time, since that is the authority for them.
- Treat the six bosses as your full boss calendar, and expect crowding.
- Do not stockpile around content that is held back. Nexon has given no date for Ossyria in the facts available here.
What it means now
With weeks to go before Grand Launch on October 21, 2026, the useful step is to plan inside the scope Nexon has actually published: two continents, two job advancements, 66 monsters, 221 quests and six bosses. Pick a branch, learn the Victoria Island towns, and decide early how you want to spend the time at the top, because the game will not hand you a next tier to chase at launch.
